In the far east, there is an ancient village called "Youlan Village". The village is surrounded by mountains and is closed to traffic, so it is rarely visited by outsiders. But the people of the village know that there are many secrets hidden here.
To the east of the village is a dilapidated temple called the "Netherworld Temple". Although the temple is in disrepair, every night, you can always hear a strange cry from inside the temple, as if there are countless unjust spirits wandering here. The villagers all said that it was the villagers who died in the war hundreds of years ago, and their grievances turned into ghosts, and they could not linger in this place.
One day, a young scholar passed by and stepped into Youlan Village out of curiosity. After hearing the rumors of the Netherworld Temple, he decided to do it. As night fell, the scholar walked into the temple alone with an oil lamp.
The temple was pitch black, with only the faint glow of the scholar's oil lamp. He walked cautiously, and suddenly, a cold wind blew, and the oil lamp went out instantly. The scholar's heart tightened, and he felt something approaching.
At that moment, he heard a woman's cry, her voice poignant and desperate. The scholar was bold, followed the sound, and found a dilapidated ancestral hall. In the ancestral hall, a woman in white was crying, her face was blurred, and she couldn't see her facial features clearly.
The scholar stepped forward and asked, "Girl, why are you crying here?" The woman looked up to reveal a tear-stained face, and said, "I am a villager in the village, and I died in the war a hundred years ago. My family was killed, and I became a ghost and couldn't leave this place. ”
The scholar was sympathetic, and he decided to help the woman. He said, "Girl, I am willing to help you find your family, let them know what you are going through, and maybe they can help you get free." A glimmer of hope flashed in the woman's eyes, and she nodded.
So, the scholar began to inquire about the woman's family. After some hard work, he finally found the woman's husband and son. When they learned of what had happened to the woman, they were devastated. They decided to perform a ritual for the woman to overtake her spirit.
The ceremony went smoothly and the woman's family prayed for her speedy liberation. At this moment, a deafening cry suddenly sounded in the temple, and then, everything returned to calm.
The scholar walked out of the temple and saw a rainbow appear in the sky, as if the god was celebrating the woman's liberation. Since then, there have been no strange cries from the Netherworld Temple, and the village has returned to its former tranquility.
This story tells us that sometimes, ghosts are not really ghosts, but resentment and obsession in people's hearts. Only when we learn to let go can we be truly liberated.
