The Great Village Village in the clouds

Mondo Tourism Updated on 2024-01-30

I heard that there is a village hidden in the sea of clouds in Huangshan, called Muli (hóng) village, which is rarely built on the ridge and has existed for hundreds of years, with the company of the sea of clouds all day long, what kind of daily life do the people there have?

At the foot of Kuzhuling Mountain, the wooden plank road hidden in the bamboo forest is the only passage to the clouds. More than 800 steps go up, isolating the pear from the world. Because they live on the top of the mountain, the Muli people call themselves mountain people, and the mountain people who have been coming and going in the mountain road for hundreds of years have never only carried the necessary materials up, and the bustle and disturbance only stay outside the mountain.

Founded in the fifteenth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, Muli Village, although it is located in the Yellow Mountain, it is not an authentic Hui style building. Because it is located on a mountain ridge and often has strong winds, the ancestors of Muli gave up the row of tiles on both sides of the roof of the Hui school to reduce wind resistance, and the layout of the houses was lined up, so that the wind could pass through the hall, so that the village existed in the clouds for more than 300 years.

There are only 52 families and 166 people in the mountains, most of whom are elderly, and the appearance of children breaks the usual tranquility, and the sweet potatoes of the neighbors finally escaped the invasion of wild boars, and after all, they could not escape the bear children in the village. Without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, sweet and juicy sweet potatoes and vegetables can be seen everywhere, which is the best childhood memory of the bear children in the village.

After the free-range alpine chicken is put into the pot, there is no need to put any seasoning, just add water and salt to stew, and the aroma can be overflowing with a little stew. As twilight falls, the mother waits for the children to return from play with a bowl of hot chicken soup, and the village returns to tranquility under this warmth.

Wild persimmons can be picked everywhere in the mountains, the villagers boil a wild herb and the green tea produced in the mountains into a soup, the herb is unique to the mountains, it is very common in places with water, there is no name, but the people in the mountains know it, some people give him the name farewell grass, it blooms, and the crop planting in the field this year has come to an end.

The green persimmons turn yellow in the soup for a day, the crispness is still there, but the astringency has disappeared, sweet, and tastes like crisp yellow peaches, which is the children's favorite snack.

The people in the mountains rely on the mountains to eat the mountains, and the fresh fruits and vegetables produced in the vegetable field behind the house and the wild fruits in the mountains can meet the needs of the family. All kinds of ingredients that cannot be eaten will be placed on the sundeck to dry and store, but they will become a delicious pickled dish on the table for many days.

The mountain people can see the sea of clouds when they open the window, and of course there is the thrill of opening the door to the cliff, so the smart mountain people will hang the logs off the cliff one by one, and they will open a vacant land in the air, and the sundeck has become a village road linking the neighbors.

As usual, the carpenter (Zhan Zuqing), who was in charge of overhauling the sundeck, was busy again after the rain. In the knocking and beating, it is judged whether it needs to be reinforced or the whole wood needs to be replaced, and it is necessary to carry the wood up the mountain more than a dozen times to repair it. Although it was hard to renovate the sundeck, Zhan Zuqing had been doing it for 50 years.

Before eight o'clock in the evening, it was dark in the mountains, and now there were more and more empty houses, and the night was getting quieter and quieter. The food on the sundeck was taken back to the home, the sea of clouds, the mountains and forests gave the mountain people the most irreplaceable natural nourishment, and the people of Muli also insisted on coexisting with the mountains and enjoyed this tranquility, maybe in another four hundred years, the Muli people will pass through the sea of clouds, leaving only a piece of farewell grass in the clouds.
