The Legend Evolves Princeton s all new WAKE 6560 road wheelset

Mondo Education Updated on 2024-02-01

The Princeton Carbon Works (PCW) Wake 6560 was conceived in 2012, and the original rideable model was completed in 2015. The Wake 6560 series has been on sale since 2017, and in just 7 years, the unique and balanced attributes of the Wake 6560 have become the top performance wheelset of choice for professional riders. Aerodynamically superior to high-profile wheels, lighter and better handling than lower-profile wheels, not to mention the stiffness, responsiveness, and powerful acceleration of the Wake 6560.

The Wake 6560 has evolved in 4 versions as PCW's signature wheelset, each with improved aerodynamics, operating efficiency, overall weight, stiffness, responsiveness, and product quality.

Now it's time for the fifth generation of legends to evolve again! The Wake 6560 Evolution introduces a revolutionary frame shape and is the second wheel in the PCW Evolution technology line, following the Alta 3532.

Exhaustive wind tunnel testing.

After extensive testing and development, the wheel is even more efficient than its predecessor, the Wake 6560 Strada, and has seen the largest growth between the two versions of the Wake 6560 Evolution in the Wake range.

The test was conducted in the A2 wind tunnel using GP5000 STR 25mm tires to 30 mph at a speed of 30 mph according to the manufacturer's recommended pressure for each wheelset.

Wind tunnel test results show that the Wake 6560 Evolution is 3 less than the Wake 6560 Strada88W, which is less than ZIPP 454 NSW V268W, which is less than the Shimano C60 777w

Patented radial weaving method.

Compared to the previous version, the changes in the frame shape of the Wake 6560 are very noticeable. The new Evolution rim shape pairs alternating shades with the undulation of the spokes, mechanically allowing the steeper, more tense spokes (drive-side rear spokes and front disc side) to connect to the deeper parts of the wheel, allowing them to engage more lightly, and the change in engagement angle balances the spoke tension to create a stronger, more evenly tensioned wheel.

And this is called"Radial weaving method"Patented (Radically Staggered LaCing) technology, exclusive to PCW road wheels.

Wider and lighter than the previous generation.

Increase the wheel width (21 mm internally, max. 28 externally.)2 mm), developed for the 25 mm tyres most commonly used in professional competitions today, to create wheels with better aerodynamic efficiency at all yaw angles and better overall stability in tricky crosswinds, the new Wake 6560 Evolution benefits from a shorter center width of the inner rim, which reduces the weight of each frame by 10g.

The Wake 6560 Evolution will continue to feature PCW's signature non-perforated inner rim design, ready to be worn tubeless, while the wheels will be able to support a tubeless + open tire combination, so you no longer need any inner lining straps and no more tire pressure restrictions.

The Wake 6560 Evolution continues to feature a framed hook design because frameless hook rims, while lower cost and lighter weight, have now proven to be difficult to maintain and potentially risky to design, with significant limitations in tyre selection and pressure. Princeton Carbon Works continues to believe that frame hook sets provide the safest and easiest solution for on-road riding and racing.
