During the Spring Festival of 1979, Wu Wendang spent the first time far from his hometown because of tensions between China and Vietnam, and no one was allowed to return home. The 148th Regiment to which he belonged was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the War to Resist US Aggression and National Salvation, and was attached to the 316th Division. After the outbreak of war, they were ordered to return to the barracks and prepare for combat duty. On February 19, the 316th Division ordered the 148th Regiment to enter the first level of combat readiness and stand ready for departure. The 4th Battalion, as the vanguard, hurriedly set off to reinforce in the direction of Lao Cai and Tangtang. They passed through the county town of Sabah and the Monson Bridge before finally reaching their destination. In the 608 heights, they fought fiercely with the squadron and finally recaptured the heights. Wu Wendang recalled that while holding off the attack, the squadron gradually retreated to the top of the hill with strong trenches and fortifications and put up fierce resistance. They faced a stubborn enemy, but eventually through their efforts, they recaptured the high ground.

This memory shows Ngo Van Dang's experience fighting during the Vietnam War, as well as the bravery and bravery of his unit. They fought fiercely with the squadron and eventually emerged victorious. Once, we experienced a terrible battle on that battlefield full of artillery fire. The heavy artillery fire of the squadron caused us a great deal, and several excellent commanders and brave soldiers were unfortunately killed. However, we were not defeated, we managed to hand over the battlefield to the 10th Company and successfully withdrew to the assembly area. To prevent the killing of artillery fire, each of us strengthened personal fortifications. We understand that it is only through solidarity that we can survive on this brutal battlefield. We rely on each other, support each other, and strive to protect each other's lives. Later, we received an urgent order: maneuver to the 1611 heights. This is to transfer our main forces to the Sabah area, to organize a new line of defense.

Our company was assigned a cover mission, and we held out for five full days before finally being ordered to maneuver quickly towards Sabah. In the Sabah area, we had a fierce battle with the squadron. Despite our small numbers, we are good at using the terrain and cover ** to shoot and look for a way out. We know that only by staying calm and resourceful can we win this battle. In the end, we managed to hold the Hoang Lien Son Pass, which was a hard-fought victory, but we also paid a huge price for it. Our comrades-in-arms have unfortunately died in battle, and they will always remain in our hearts, and their sacrifices will forever be etched in our memories. However, this battle is not just our personal story, it is a symbol of the honor and dignity of a nation. We are proud to be able to dedicate ourselves to the motherland. We are proud to be able to defend our land. The battle also raised a number of questions.

The challenges we face are enormous, and we need to think about how we can better address them. We need to improve our equipment and training to deal with possible future wars. We need to strengthen cooperation with our allies to form a strong alliance to jointly counter external threats. In addition, we need to pay attention to the logistical support and medical support of the military. In this battle, we have learned the importance of logistics. Only the supply and medical conditions of the soldiers can better complete the mission. In this battle, our team spirit was greatly demonstrated. We are united in our fight together, and no matter what difficulties and challenges we face, we can overcome them together. This team spirit is not just useful in the military, it also applies to all aspects of life. We should learn to help and support each other and work together to achieve greater success.

Finally, let us extend our most sincere respect and deep condolences to those comrades-in-arms who sacrificed their lives to defend the motherland. Their heroic sacrifice will always be remembered in our hearts. Let us stay at our posts and continue to work hard for the peace and security of our country. Only in this way will we be able to protect our homeland and make our country stronger and more prosperous. On February 17, 1979, I experienced an unforgettable day in my military career in the northern border provinces. On this day, our troops took part in the support operation to the 316th Division, but, unfortunately, our operation failed. After this, we wandered around the Sabah area for a while. However, according to the orders of the front commander of the Kunming Military Region and the front command of the 13th Army, our 149th Division, reinforced by the 32nd Regiment of the 95th Division and the 3rd Battalion of the Independent Tank Regiment of the Military Region, surrounded and annihilated the main forces of the 316th Division. The fighting began on 27 February and lasted until 3 March, when the county town of Sabah was captured, and finally ended on 5 March.

In this battle, we managed to annihilate most of the 316th Regiment of the 174th Regiment, the 5th Battalion of the 148th Regiment, the 7th Battalion of the 98th Regiment, as well as part of the 4th Battalion of the 148th Regiment and the Sabah Independent Battalion, totaling about 2,300 people. In addition, our 11th Army also annihilated part of the personnel of the 98th Regiment (owed to the 7th Battalion) of the 316th Division who remained fortified in the fiefdom area during the battle. Throughout the war, the 316th Division suffered a serious blow, losing a total of more than 3,000 people. This battle was very important to me and the most memorable day of my military career.
