Jin Yong's "Condor Trilogy" covers "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" and "The Legend of the Sky and the Dragon", which spans the long history from the Southern Song Dynasty to the end of the Yuan Dynasty, and tells the legendary stories of Guo Jing, Yang Guo, Zhang Wuji and other protagonists.
These three works not only span a huge time span and have many characters, but also add a rich and colorful color to the whole story through the shaping of various supporting characters, which makes readers dizzy.
However, it seems to be a mystery why the character of Guo Poyu, as the son of Guo Jing and the heir of the Dragon Slayer Knife, died on the battlefield.
In the entire "Condor Trilogy", Guo Jing and Huang Rong are undoubtedly the most eye-catching characters, they are not only the hero and heroine, but also the soul of the whole story. Even though they died heroically in the end, the Dragon Slayer and the Heavenly Sword they left behind continue to play a key role in Heaven and Dragon Slayer.
Just like the supporting characters like Guo Fu and Guo Xiang, although they have a relatively low status in the story, they promote the development of the story through their actions.
However, for Guo Poyu, why does his fate seem to be destined to die on the battlefield as heroically as his father? Why did Jin Yong choose such an ending? Is there a deeper meaning to this?
Guo Poyu was destined to take on the responsibility of keeping the dragon slaying knife, but his personality was diametrically opposed to Guo Jing. Although he inherited his father's bloodline, he did not become a heroic and upright person like Guo Jing.
His fate seems to be engraved in the book of heaven, and in the end, in his own way, in order to protect his family and country and defend justice, he bravely went to the battlefield.
Guo's story may tell us that fate may be a choice, but more importantly, we should write our own life legend in our own way.
Now, do you have any new ideas or opinions on the role of Guo Poyu? Welcome to leave a message to share!
