I, Xie Daoyun, was born in the famous Xie family of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, my father is Xie Yi, the general of Anxi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, my uncle is the politician Xie An of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and my husband Wang Ningzhi is the second son of the calligrapher Wang Xi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
I was bright and well-educated since I was a child, and I was good at poetry. I have an independent and strong personality and have my own thoughts and opinions. In that male-dominated era, I was not bound by tradition and pursued the realization of self-worth. The story of my life can be described as ups and downs.
When he was young, he experienced the prosperity and decline of his family, and witnessed the impermanence of the world. However, these experiences did not discourage me, but made me more determined to believe in life.
In the field of literature, I have a unique contribution and achievement. My poems are fresh and natural, with sincere emotions, expressing my love for life and thinking about human nature. Some of these works have been passed down by posterity and have become literary classics. And there are many good stories in my life. One of the most famous is the story of "If the catkins are raised by the wind". It was a cold winter day, and it was snowing heavily, and my uncle Xie An gathered his family to enjoy the snow. He asked them, "What does this snow look like?" "Some say it's like salt in the air, others say it's like goose feathers falling. And I replied, "If the catkins are raised by the wind." This answer was appreciated by Xie An, and it also made me famous. Therefore, later generations often use "Yongxucai" to describe women as having literary talents.
Although I have experienced ups and downs in my life, I have always adhered to my beliefs and pursued my dream of literature. I believe that my works and spirit will live on forever, inspiring future generations to continue to pursue truth, goodness and beauty.
