China Youth Daily Client News (China Youth Daily, China Youth Network Intern Reporter Yang Jie, Reporter Fan Weichen) "Under the 'double carbon' goal, renewable energy led by wind power and solar power generation is an important measure to achieve low-carbon development commitments and energy structure transformation, and it is also the key to building a new power system and the main force to achieve a zero-carbon power system." On January 8, at the report conference with the theme of "Prospects for Wind and Solar Technology under China's Carbon Neutrality Goal", He Kebin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of the Institute of Carbon Neutrality of Tsinghua University, mentioned that with the large-scale development of wind and solar renewable energy, the technical cost, safety process and ecological benefits of the whole wind and solar power generation industry chain are facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges.

According to the report "Outlook on Wind and Solar Technology under China's Carbon Neutrality Goal" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"), since 2005, with the continuous strengthening of China's wind power and photovoltaic technology and equipment, the installed scale of wind power and solar power generation has been expanding, and the proportion of installed capacity and power generation in the power structure has gradually increased, and the development has achieved remarkable results.

Judging from the report data, China's wind and solar energy resources are very rich and have great potential for development. According to numerous research estimates, the theoretical annual power generation potential of wind energy is about 2.9 to 4.4 billion kilowatt hours, which is about 4-6 times the electricity consumption of the whole society in 2020. The theoretical annual power generation potential of solar PV is about 67 to 10.1 billion kWh, which is about 9-13 times the electricity consumption of the whole society in 2020.

Lu Xi, assistant dean of the Institute of Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University, professor at the School of Environment, and general convener of the report, pointed out that with the increasing frequency of extreme weather events brought about by climate change, how to accurately forecast and warn the power system with a high proportion of wind and solar power generation to ensure the reliability of the power system, and how to achieve low ecological environmental impact and establish eco-friendly development and management standards for large-scale wind and solar development will also be the focus of research today.

Another issue worth thinking about is overcapacity. Li Junfeng, the first director of the National Center for Climate Strategy and executive director of the China Energy Research Society, mentioned that the current market has been rumored about the problem of overcapacity in the new energy industry, and some industries have panicked selling, resulting in excess. Therefore, Li Junfeng called on the market to look at the problem of overcapacity objectively and rationally, and to look at the problem of capacity balance from the perspective of capacity utilization.

According to the latest analysis of the Global Wind Energy Council, it is expected that by 2025, the capacity of offshore wind turbines will reach about 15 megawatts, and by 2030 it will reach 20 megawatts.

The report suggests that in the future, the development of wind power technology and industrial chain should improve the process level and material manufacturing level of basic manufacturing industry, and strengthen the substitution and application of domestic brands; improve the basic design and manufacturing process of wind power electronic chips, and further promote the intelligent development of wind power; support and promote the construction of a public verification platform for the wind power industry; the development of new processes and new materials to promote the industry towards a zero-carbon era; Encourage and promote the integrated development model of "wind power + multiple industries".
