The concept of the sport of holland is equality between men and women, teamwork and no emphasis on excessive physical confrontation, known as "gentleman's sport".

Since 2004, China has developed the sport of holland, and the Zhengzhou University Dutch team is one of the earliest Dutch teams to be formed, and it often competes abroad as a national team because of its level ahead of other domestic teams. In 2019, the Chinese team coached by Ma Xiangcheng finished fourth at the World Hockey Championships in South Africa and fifth in the 2022 World Games Hockey event in the United States.
