Body
In the early days of the Liberation War, under the command of Commander Su Yu and the first political commissar, the Central China Field Army won a brilliant victory in seven battles and seven victories in the Soviet-Chinese Campaign, and then moved north in September 1946 to implement strategic transfer. The Soviet-Chinese liberated areas then moved behind enemy lines to hold on to the situation. Immediately after that, the enemy's No. 1 appeasement zone mobilized heavy troops and launched a military "clean-up" against the Soviet-Chinese base areas behind enemy lines in a vain attempt to extinguish our insistence on arming and destroy our party and government grassroots organizations. Achieve the goal of fully occupying and controlling Jingjiang.
First of all, the enemy listed the four counties of Taixing, Jingjiang, Rugao, and Taizhou, south of the Tongyang Canal and close to the north bank of the Yangtze River with Huangqiao as the center, as "experimental areas for clearing and suppressing," and continued to "clean up" for 10 months. The struggle was extremely sharp and brutal.
Jingjiang County, which is located at the forefront of the southern line of the first sub-district, bore the brunt. Jingjiang County has a prominent geographical location, surrounded by rivers on three sides, stretching for hundreds of miles, and confronts the Jiangyin fortress heavily guarded by the enemy army across the river, becoming a place where the enemy and us must fight. Under the treacherous situation in which the enemy was strong and we were weak, the enemy was attacked on all sides, and the enemy was isolated on the shore of the great river, in order to preserve the vital strength and persist in the long-term struggle, our armed forces and local cadres moved from the inner line to the outer line on the night of 3 April 1947, and Jingjiang fell into the hands of the enemy.
The Jingjiang Independent Regiment fought on the outer front for more than five months, and the blood of its commanders and fighters was spilled all over the land. In order to restore the positions lost in the "third phase" of the anti-"clean-up" struggle, on the orders of the head of the sub-district, Wang Qingchen, secretary of the county party committee and political commissar of the Independent Regiment, Sun Bin, chief of staff of the regiment, and Zhu Zirong, director of the Political Department, led more than 350 heroic soldiers of the Jingjiang Independent Regiment and more than 150 local party, government, financial and cultural cadres who survived the battle with the army, marched to the Lunan area south of the Yellow Highway in Jingjiang and Taixing behind enemy lines behind enemy lines.
The enemy regards the area along the river as its lifeline, so the enemy has made use of the roads, rivers, and 368 large and small strongholds (a total of 368) that crisscross the southern four counties of the first sub-district to form three river defense blockade lines, and to divide and blockade the base areas behind our enemy lines, forcing us to be unable to gain a foothold and survive. I marched to Jingjiang and Lunan, penetrated deep into the enemy's deep zone, broke through the three river defense blockade lines, and opened up the gap in the "river defense system," causing a shock among the enemies in the north and south of the river. In order to plug this gap, the enemy's "appeasement" office hurriedly dispatched the 433rd Regiment of the 21st Division and the 1st Brigade of the Provincial Security Corps to Jingjiang from Rugao and Nantong respectively to follow and "pursue" me in two directions, in a vain attempt to "eat" me or force me to retreat.
In order to avoid the enemy's edge, in a dark night when dark clouds were rolling and we couldn't see our fingers, we quietly moved from Jingzhong Zhun Ti Nunnery to Anle Bridge in the south of the road. On the way, they encountered a downpour, and they were drenched all over their bodies. In order not to fall behind, everyone took off their leggings and picked them up and pulled each other to march.
Since the beginning of the march, we have marched and fought continuously for more than 20 days and nights in an environment where the enemy is surrounded on all sides and has no rear support. In order to avoid enemy attacks, the troops had to march and move the camp every night. When the enemy situation is tense, the camp must be moved two or even three times a night. During this period, the troops did not eat a single meal or sleep peacefully. The soldiers dozed off while marching, and even took a nap while eating, and their rice bowls fell to the ground. Wang Weizhang, the leader of the fourth squad of the Fifth Company, said humorously: "The revolution has won, please ask the higher authorities for permission for us to sleep well for three days." ”
It was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the troops were infected with an epidemic gastrointestinal disease. There was a shortage of prevention and control medicines, and there was no rest, so everyone insisted on marching with the team to fight when they were sick. Some fainted during the march because of their weak constitution; Because the wounded did not have a rear, they had to be temporarily dispersed and placed in the homes of the basic people; The seriously injured could not be treated in a timely manner, and some of the wounds had suppurated. There were many attrition in the troops, and the cadres were also large, and the two company commanders of the third company, Yang Binglong and Miao Jingen, were seriously injured one after another. This is one of the most difficult times for us.
Under these circumstances, there was a discussion in the troops: "Can we jump out and recuperate before we come in?" "To this end, we held a meeting of cadres in a timely manner to analyze the situation and unify our thinking. After discussion, they all agreed that if we jumped out to rest and recuperate, we would give the enemy a chance to breathe, boost the enemy's reactionary arrogance, and even lose the two positions of Lunan and Jingzhong, which had just been recaptured from the enemy. Political Commissar Wang listened attentively to everyone's opinions and said solemnly: "Comrades, the struggle of blood and fire has tested us, and we are now in a time of temporary difficulties, and at the same time it is also a critical juncture that determines our victory. The enemy is trying in every possible way to crush us and drive us away. Our answer is: destroy the enemy, recapture the position. Overcoming the difficulties in front of us is our victory. ”
Everyone unanimously said: resolutely defeat the enemy's counterattack. In order to regain the position, even the sword mountain and the sea of fire must be broken through.
After two days, what we always wanted to avoid finally happened. On the morning of October 15, at the head of the incense shop in the south of the road, he encountered a strong enemy who was tracking and "pursuing" on two roads. After a vicious battle, getting rid of the enemy, we withdrew from the battle. Shen Wangxiang, the leader of the sixth squad of the first company, led the warriors of the whole squad to confront the superior enemy across a dry ditch under the fierce artillery fire of the enemy. They threw 48 grenades at the enemy's head in succession, blowing up the position in a dusty manner. The smoke of gunpowder was filled with shrapnel, and they bravely repelled the enemy's three group charges and covered the evacuation of the wounded company commander and his comrades from the battlefield.
When we took the wounded and moved to Dagangwan, the local recalcitrants (referring to the Kuomintang local armed security forces, self-defense forces, etc.) in the surrounding Guangling Town, Ningjie City, Hengxiang, Xiqiao, and Lost Lost were attacked one after another, and they entangled us in the territory of Lunan and continued to fight until the afternoon before we collected our troops. In this battle, although the enemy's ambition to "devour" us was thwarted, we also paid a great price, with a total of 49 people. Fourteen people, including Gao Zhilin, deputy company commander and special meritorious hero of the Third Company, died bravely, and 35 people, including Zhang Xin, commander of the First Company, and Sun Lanfang, secretary of the branch of the Third Company, were wounded.
That night, we held a cadre meeting in Jiejiazhuang, Guangling District, south of the road, to decide on the next course of action: Political Commissar Wang Qingchen, Jia Cheng, director of the organization department of the county party committee, and Zhang Jianping, director of the propaganda department, led the party, government, and military organs, the Third Company, the special task force, and some local cadres to move to Jingzhong overnight to join up with the armed forces led by County Magistrate Xue Xianluo and others, and to hold the position in Jingzhong; Xu Qian, deputy secretary of the county party committee, remained in place to lead the leadership and insisted on the position in the south of the road. For the safety of the wounded and the relief of the worries of the troops, Director Zhu Zirong and I took the lead.
The 1st and 5th companies escorted 32 seriously wounded to Gejiabao in Rugao, and then to the rear of the dead tree ocean on the coast of the Yellow Sea.
In the middle of the night, we stayed up with extreme fatigue after a hard battle, felt the black road, escorted our seriously wounded comrades, and crossed the Jihuang double blockade line with difficulty. It is only 25 miles from Jijia City to Huangqiao, and the enemy has built 6 strongholds along the Jihuang Highway and the Jihuang River, echoing each other. The land and water passages running from north to south were tightly sealed. Under the cover of night, under the sound of the enemy's alarming gunfire, we crossed the river in six small boats from two ferry crossings, crossed the highway again, and arrived safely at our destination after dawn.
Besides, on the night of the battle in Xiangdian, Xu Sui, secretary of the central county party committee of the four southern counties of the sub-district and political commissar of the southern line detachment, came to Jingjiang with a guard squad to learn about our advance. He was accompanied by Comrade Ke Dejin, who was transferred from the sub-district to serve as deputy political commissar of the Jingjiang Independent Regiment, a group of local cadres who had returned from the northern front, and a group of wounded and sick soldiers who had recovered from their wounds and returned to the unit. After they first went to Lunan to meet with former Deputy Secretary Xu, they rushed to Jingzhong without stopping, and joined Wang, Xue, Jia, and Zhang.
After the battle at Xiangdiantou, Zhang Yisan, the reactionary Jingjiang County magistrate of the Kuomintang, misjudged that we had been defeated by the enemy who was being followed and "pursued" from two sides, so he got carried away and wanted to take advantage of the fire to rob us, arrogantly shouting that he would "fight a decisive battle" with us. Gathering more than 1,000 troops from the three brigades, under the guidance of Wu Hou, the head of Taixing County of the Kuomintang, they suddenly attacked and "met" Jingzhong on the morning of the 17th. The enemy played their wishful thinking - a brigade from Guangling Town took the lead, blocking the Jiehe River from east to west; Zhang Yi's three relatives led the security brigade to assemble in Baiyitang in concealment, from south to north, pressing towards the Jiehe; A brigade in Pilu City ambushed our troops from west to east, cutting off our back road, in a vain attempt to encircle and annihilate me in the north and south of the boundary river.
On the night of the 16th, Wang, Xue, and Xu accidentally obtained information that the enemy in Guangling Town would attack Jingzhong on the morning of the 17th. In order to gain the initiative, they immediately made contingency arrangements: Divide the armed engineering teams in the Jingzhong area into combat groups and separately monitor the enemy's movements in the surrounding strongholds to block and contain the attacking enemy; Ke Dequan, the deputy political commissar who arrived at midnight, and Shen Jie, the operational staff officer, led the third company to insert themselves into the main crossing on the north side of the Jiehe River in the early morning and set up an ambush for the enemy attacking from Guangling Town; Wang, Zui, Xu, and others led the organs, the special task force, the local cadres who had returned from the northern front, and the wounded and sick who had returned from the northern line to move from the Lujiadai garrison to Wujiadai on the south bank of the Jiehe River, to control the Jiaokouwei Bridge, cross the river at their feet, and maneuver from north to south.
After the task of escorting the wounded was completed, Zhu and Sun decided to stay on the spot and rest for a day, and return to Jingjiang that night (the night of the 16th). There are two routes taken: one is to follow the original route back to Jingzhong to meet Wang and Xue. Come closer, but beware of the possibility of the enemy attacking us on the old road; The other is to take a detour through the enemy-occupied area of Jingdong to return to Jingzhong, which is a farther but safer road. Although Jingdong is still under the control of the enemy, we can take advantage of the enemy's paralysis to break through. After weighing, it was decided to make a detour to Jingdong and return to Jingzhong. Afterwards, our judgment was confirmed, and the enemy on the Jihuang Line was indeed "waiting" for us for three nights in succession at the two important crossings of the Octagonal Well and Lianzidang.
The troops ate dinner early, and the whole team sat on the threshing floor, silent, waiting for departure. Director Zhu saw that it was still early, so he encouraged everyone to sing. Since the march, in order to act covertly, the soldiers have not sung for a long time, and when they heard about singing, everyone smiled and sang loudly. The majestic singing echoed in the air, and the rustic atmosphere was high, and the flame of the battle was ignited again after the defeat of the incense shop. At the end of the song, the cadres and soldiers were enthusiastic, and there was applause and laughter.
The troops returned to their hearts like arrows, and a rapid march rushed to the Rujingjie River. With the help of the masses, Tan Renfu, a reconnaissance staff officer who set out in advance, had already prepared two small boats, and in the dark of night, the troops crossed the Jiehe River from the bay and ditch between the two enemy strongholds of Jijia City and Wenwudian, and smoothly broke through the first blockade line and entered the enemy-occupied area in Jingdong.
Jingdong, under the rule of the enemy, was dead silent and became a world of white terror. Almost every passing village, bridge and dam head have been tied with bamboo fence barriers, and most of the main crossings are double-layered and very solid. Open during the day and closed at night. When we were on the way, we had to stop every time we encountered a bamboo fence and blockade, and use the shovels and pickaxes we carried with us to open up the way. It was another night march, and the roads were bumpy and difficult, which slowed down the troops' march, and everyone was worried about whether they could reach their destination before dawn.
When passing through the last and fifth blockade lines, they encountered a group of enemies on the Guguang Highway. A company of avant-garde preceded the enemy**, and one rushed and repelled the enemy. The heroic soldier Fan Lansheng followed and pursued, capturing the enemy and a squad leader who did not escape. Just when the pursuit needed to understand the enemy's situation, he grabbed a "living tongue", which was really a treasure. We immediately stopped to interrogate the captives, and learned from the captives that there would be a major military operation of the enemy after dawn (17th), and that the enemy we encountered was transferred from Gushan to Guangling Town by Starry Night to participate in this operation.
The troops trotted and galloped all the way, and arrived at the predetermined destination, Zhu Xingdai, where dawn had already dawned. I couldn't contact Wang and Xue for a while, and I was very anxious. We wanted to hide on the spot, but considering that it was too close to the stronghold of Guangling Town in the east and close to Caijiagang in the west, there was not much room for maneuver in the event of a major enemy situation. Therefore, we decided to immediately send people to contact Wang and Xue to inform them of the enemy's situation; At the same time, taking advantage of the diffuse morning fog, he quickly inserted into Shengjiadai in the west of Caijiagang and waited to break the enemy. Not only are the conditions of the masses good here, but the terrain is also favorable, and they can advance and retreat freely, and open bows left and right.
At dawn on the 17th, we stepped into Shengjiadai, and every household was overjoyed, and the whole dai was suddenly active. The fathers, the villagers, and the soldiers greeted each other with warmth, which deeply reflected the situation between the army and the people. In order to prepare for battle as soon as possible, we immediately told them: "Today, the reactionaries may come to 'sweep', and you should also make preparations......When men, women, and children heard this, they said indignantly: "We are not afraid that you are coming, and we will settle accounts with you with the reactionaries." "The women immediately started to help us with the surprise cooking, and the old militiamen immediately rushed to the head of the village and cooperated with us to stand guard and rest. What a wonderful people! What a strong people! With such popular support, we will be invincible.
Regardless of the fatigue of the long march, the soldiers prepared for battle in a tense and orderly manner. After we sent away the scouts who were monitoring the enemy's situation, we immediately summoned cadres to analyze the enemy's situation and predetermine a combat plan. This is the target area of the "Raid", and it is sandwiched between several enemy strongholds. Seven or eight miles near, more than ten miles far. According to the tactics used by the local recalcitrants to "suppress me", the enemy in the vicinity of the stronghold will attack, and if they do not come, they will swarm me, trying to intimidate me and make it impossible for me to parry. But they are not coordinated with their actions, and there are always people who come first and come first. We judged that the enemy in Guangling Town and Baiyitang strongholds was the first to attack, especially the enemy in Guangling Town's strongholds. According to the strength of our troops, we are relatively sure of dealing with any way. Therefore, it is decided: whoever comes first will be hit first; If multiple enemies are coming at the same time, choose to "eat" them all the way. If you don't fight, you will have to fight, and if you fight, you will fight quickly and strive to take the initiative.
As soon as breakfast was boiled, everyone was hungry and anxious. Suddenly, "Boom! "Boom! "From the northeast, there were successive signals from scout Jin Longzhi to report an urgent enemy situation. As expected, the enemy in Guangling Town was dispatched first, and they came early, and there was no movement in other directions. We should make a decisive decision at the right time, concentrate all our forces, deal with the enemy in front of us first, and then act at the opportunistic opportunity.
With a "assemble" command, the commanders and fighters of the first and fifth companies stood majestically and proudly on the threshing floor, and the rising sun and the flashes on the soldiers' spears complemented each other, and the team looked more majestic and majestic. The first company is a "big tiger" in our regiment, and the other "big tiger" is the third company, all of which are "first-class people's meritorious service companies". Its predecessors were two guerrilla units that were famous for fighting against Japanese aggression and fighting devils, and they have always been brave and good at fighting, and have a fighting majesty that makes the enemy fearful. The fifth company is a "little tiger" and is a "second-class people's meritorious service company". It has the "three fierce" fighting style of maneuverability and flexibility, and fierce fighting, fierce rushing, and fierce pursuit.
We were deploying for battle, and the enemy's gunfire crackled, and bullets flew over our heads. Instead of taking the road through which the three companies had set up ambushes, the enemy sneaked along the inaccessible path on the south bank of the Jiehe River. The enemy soldiers were divided into two routes: one crossed the boundary river and followed the north bank avenue, and ran west while firing guns; All the way across the Caijiashi Bridge, they swarmed south and rushed towards our side. It seems that the enemy is in a situation of flanking from the north and south. We are determined to concentrate our forces to annihilate one line of Henan and block the other line of the enemy in Hebei. Gu Ji, secretary of the general branch, stood in front of the team and raised his arms and shouted: "Comrades, the time has come for revenge, resolutely destroy the enemy." The first company and the fifth company, two "tigers" of the same size, in the slogan of "destroy the enemy", left and right, side by side, killed the enemy.
The troops were engaged in the enemy when they heard a burst of heavy gunfire from the easterly direction on the edge of the Jiehe River. Director Zhu jumped up to a high place and raised the binoculars to take a look, and shouted loudly in surprise: "Political Commissar Wang, they are in the north." It's really "nowhere to be found at the end of the world, and the two meet on the water's edge". At this critical juncture, the two teams met amid the sound of gunfire. It turned out that Political Commissar Wang had ordered the special forces to cross the border of the river and attack to meet the enemy all the way to Hebei.
Immediately afterwards, fierce gunfire rang out in the direction of Shijiadai, and the armed engineering team led by the second platoon of the Fifth Company and Qiu Guofu, deputy captain of the Gushan Mountain Team, under the unified command of Dai Wenxuan, the instructor of the Fifth Company, coordinated with the special forces to resolutely repel the enemy in Hebei and effectively guaranteed the smooth progress of the battle in Henan.
The sound of machine guns and rumbling grenades on the Caijiashi Bridge shook the earth and shook the earth, and a "decisive battle" began. Zhou Zhongwu, the commander of the first company, boldly and decisively ordered Rong Kejian, the leader of the submachine gun squad, to lead 10 warriors to use the hidden terrain to penetrate the bridgehead of Caijia City with agility and speed, as if a heavenly soldier suddenly appeared behind the enemy, and swept the enemy's ass with four American submachine guns, making the enemy dizzy. At the same time, two platoons of the 1st Company and the 5th Company bravely pounced on Xiaolijiadai and annihilated the stubborn enemy who tried to seize the village in one fell swoop. The reconnaissance platoon commander Wen Jixin captured a light machine gun and captured a detachment alive. In this way, the enemy in Henan was surrounded by me in a depression and in a cemetery south of the Jiehe River, north of Xiaolijiadai, and west of Caijiagang. A company of 9 machine guns swept over the wolf rushing enemy group like a gust of wind, killing and wounding the enemy. Platoon grenades blow up the enemy's flesh and blood. Instructor Zhan Yiquan stood up with the machine gun he had just snatched from the enemy, and roared angrily at the enemy who was desperately resisting the graveyard. Deputy instructor Li Wenwen led the warriors of the second platoon, with the passionate sound of the charge, holding the snow bright bayonets, like a tiger pounced on a sheep, rushed into the enemy formation, fighting in close combat. The stubborn enemy was killed, wounded, and surrendered. The hostile situation is ever-changing. Just as the Caijiashi Bridge was in full swing, gunshots came from the south and north directions, from far and near. The enemies who "could suppress" from the south and north also arrived. Jiang Guangming, the commander of the station, immediately took the guard squad to cover the wounded and evacuated the battlefield with the prisoners.
There is also a group of outlaws who continue to resist stubbornly by using the embankment of the harbor. Zhu Bowen, the commander of the first platoon of the Fifth Company, was in a hurry, and immediately led his team to climb to the roof, suppressing the enemy with condescending firepower, and beating the enemy with nowhere to hide. They fled one after another, the river was blocked by a dense fire net, Caijiagang became a boiling oil pot, and all the enemies who jumped into the port were "buried". The battle was over, and before the troops had time to withdraw from their positions, the enemy in the south was already closing in. Deputy instructor Guan Jinli went to the battlefield under the enemy's blazing fire and carrying a seriously wounded soldier on his back.
After the enemy in Hebei was dealt a powerful blow by us, seeing that the difficult brothers and brothers in Henan were gone, they left behind the dead and wounded, and fled to the stronghold of Guangling Town. Deputy Political Commissar Kode commanded three companies to intercept and chase a group of enemies into the river loop, killing and drowning more than 50 people and capturing 21 alive. Guo Jiafu, the leader of the eighth squad, led the whole class to rush to the front, and captured a dozen people. After half an hour of fierce fighting, a stubborn backbone armed force, the "Rebel" Assault Brigade, was all annihilated. More than 100 people under the captain Jiang Baichuan were killed and wounded, and 90 people under the squadron leader Chen Kaizu were captured. Five light machine guns and more than 130 long and short guns were seized.
The battle ended in a hurry, and before the battlefield could be cleared, the enemy from the south had arrived. We hurriedly led our troops to rendezvous with Wang, Xue, and Xu. Everyone was very happy to see Political Commissar Xu, because he brought the main force of the division to support us, and the morale was even higher.
We were busy transferring, and Zhang Yishan, the magistrate of the county, with his ace security brigade, chased after us violently. Several shells fell on us one after another, deafening, but fortunately, we were protected by half of the earthen wall next to us, and the broken branches and splashed mud fell on us, and we could not lift our heads under the weight of light and heavy machine guns. Liu Yuezhong, the guard covering us, was wounded in the head. At this time, a burst of gunfire also suddenly broke out in the northwest ** direction, mixed with the sound of small cannons, which made us overwhelmed for a while. And the enemy, who is tracking and "chasing" us, is gathering on the Jihuang line to rest and wait.
In order to ensure the safe transfer, we decided to send Wang Hengfu, deputy company commander of the Third Company, Cui Deshun, instructor, and Chen Hong, deputy instructor, to lead a team to the east to guard against the enemy who was tracking and "pursuing" and taking advantage of the opportunity to shoot the "return rifle." The Boundary River Bridge was controlled by the Fifth Company and the northwest direction was guarded. Command a company, plus two particularly combat-ready guard squads around us, to counter the enemy in pursuit. The first company was ordered to be in danger, and the instructor Zhan Yiquan and the ** company commander Zhou Zhongwu both stepped forward and patted their chests and said: "We resolutely repel the enemy and ensure the safe transfer of troops." In this critical situation, Zhou Xiubao, the leader of the fifth squad who had just left the battlefield after a company was wounded, and Ma Tianbao, a communicator, could not hold back the anger in their hearts, and immediately got up from the ground, regardless of the pain and dissuasion, squeezed into the queue and threw themselves into a new battle. Xiao Keming, a medical worker, and Gao Chuzhi, a hygienist, were both injured in their lower limbs and could not stand and walk, and they were rolling on the ground to give first aid to their injured comrades.
How many such communists are there on the battlefield! How many such commanders and fighters are there! How many such heroic models there are! For the liberation of the people, for the victory of the revolution, and for the birth of new China, they did not hesitate to sacrifice everything and willingly gave their blood and lives.
The warriors of the first company and the guard squad, under the leadership of Zhou Zhongwu and Zhan Yiquan, wore steel helmets on their heads, held spears and spurs, braved the rain of bullets, and waded through a waist ditch with all their might. The guard squad leaned on the waist ditch and launched fierce fire, head-on the enemy. A company swooped straight into the enemy's flank, and with lightning speed, it attacked the enemy's waist and attacked fiercely, so that the enemy could not take care of each other, and the formation was in chaos. Throw heavy machine guns and mortars into the river, throw away their armor and flee in the wilderness. Zhang Yishan was even more frightened, even lost the shoes on his feet, and fled into the Baiyitang stronghold barefoot. Soon after, this counterrevolutionary leader was also dismissed on charges of failing to "suppress the Communist Party."
Having repelled the enemy in pursuit, the troops moved to the south of the road. At this time, the 3rd Brigade of the Enemy's Self-Defense Corps, which had attacked from Pilu City, had already rushed to the south of ** Wei and blocked our way. As the saying goes: "There are chasing soldiers in the rear, and there is blocking the enemy in front." Dense bullets whistled past our ears, and a 15-year-old soldier, Chen Yucai, had a hole in his military hat cut through by an enemy bullet on his head and fell to the ground. We then sent the 5th Company and the Special Forces to counterattack the enemy who was in our way. With the aftermath of victory, the warriors rushed across the Boundary River Bridge and outflanked the past. The cunning enemy, hearing the gunfire from the south, first from south to north and then from north to south, knew that the situation was not good, and hurriedly resisted for a while, and retreated westward with his tail between his legs. I took only five or six prisoners, a gun, and a Japanese grenadier. The fighters were not satisfied.
I was walking back with my troops, but I didn't expect that the enemy in Xie Jiajian's stronghold had come to "cooperate" with all his might. Li Baosheng, commander of the Fifth Company, and Chen Guoliang, instructor of the special task force, resolutely seized this good opportunity to annihilate the enemy. I pursued it all the way to the foot of the stronghold, and killed the stubborn leader Ding, who was armed with two guns, and scared the enemy into abandoning the stronghold and fleeing. In this way, we took the sheep by the hand and pulled out a "poisonous nail" that the enemy had installed in the hinterland of Lunan, and the situation in Lunan was changed.
It was past noon, and the guns and cannons in the north, south, east and west of the boundary river fell silent. Amid the cheers of the people on both sides of the Jiehe River, the commanders and fighters were in high spirits, escorting the lost prisoners, carrying and carrying the booty, and marching mightily towards the Qinjialou. During the march, everyone talked and laughed and was jubilant. The warriors won the battle, and all hunger and fatigue were forgotten. In particular, the 1st and 5th Companies had dinner in advance yesterday at Shiqiaotou in the Rugao area, and they traveled more than 50 miles overnight, broke through five blockade lines in a row, and fought until 2 o'clock in the afternoon without breakfast. It can really be called a people's soldier who fights, runs, and starves.
In the battle of Caijiashi Bridge, we finally gained a foothold in the forward position of the southern front. After the war, political commissar Wang Qingchen wrote a combat report to the head of the sub-district, which contained the following two sentences: "The Communist Party should prosper, and the Kuomintang should die." In his handwritten reply, Commissar Zhong also had two words of encouragement: "If we dare to win, we will definitely win."
Nearly half a century has passed since the battle of Caijiashi Bridge. In the battle of Caijiashi Bridge of great significance and the bloody struggle to liberate the entire Jingjiang and Lunan, the martyrs who died bravely and the comrades-in-arms who died early after hard work are immortal. We must remember that yesterday, the socialist country was not easily won by Communist Party members, revolutionary fighters, and revolutionary people in exchange for their blood and lives.
