Eliminating the three evils around is not an inspirational story

"Removing the Three Evils Around the World" is not an inspirational story, the story itself is from "The Book of Jin: The Biography of Zhou". Roughly speaking, in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, a reckless man named Zhou Chu, when he was young, indulged in wanton lust and rampant in the Yixing area, and the locals called him the three evils along with the white tiger in the mountains and the dragon in the water.

When this story spread, someone persuaded Zhou to kill the tiger and the dragon, so Zhou only went up the mountain and into the water to kill the tiger and the dragon respectively. In fact, the villagers persuaded the surrounding area to eliminate the harm in the hope that he and the three scourges of the tiger and the dragon would fight each other and die together.

When Zhou came back, he saw that his fellow villagers thought that he and Jiaolong had died together, and they were celebrating each other and setting up a banquet, so Zhou Chu was deeply touched and decided to change his mind and be a new man, and later became a generation of famous generals.

The end of the story seems to be a happy one, but in real history, "Removing the Three Evils Around the World" does not end. Zhou himself is one of the three evils, he only got rid of two evils, and he is left with himself. He got rid of his past self, and this was only a mental elimination, but not a physical elimination. The reputation of the surrounding place is too great, and it is difficult for outsiders to really see a person's spiritual transformation, and they will only judge the stakes of a person from his past deeds and his appearance.

The reason why Zhou was able to run rampant in the countryside and become one of the three evils was because his father Zhou Yi (fáng) was a famous general in Eastern Wu, and the official was too shou in Poyang. Because his father died early, he became a gentleman.

And the villagers around him instigated him to fight with the tiger and dragon, hoping that the three of them would die together, which made the story very dark. This either shows that Zhou was inhumane before, or that his countrymen were inhuman. No matter which one it is, it has a sinister intention to kill people, and the tone of the story is cold and cruel.

However, most of the stories of the Eastern Jin Dynasty are like this, either dark and cruel, or magical and fantastic.

After Zhou was re-instated, the era of the Three Kingdoms came to an end. As an old minister of the Wu State, Zhou Chu surrendered to the Sima family and became a courtier of the Jin Dynasty. Because Zhou was not in the office, he offended Sima Wei (róng), the king of Liang of the Sima family, during his tenure as the middle prince of the imperial history, and the two formed an old grudge.

Soon after, the Northwest clan rebelled, and all the courtiers unanimously elected Zhou to go on the expedition, hoping that he would get out of the way as soon as possible. Therefore, during the western expedition to quell the rebellion of the Ding clan, Sima Wei forced Zhou to lead an army of 5,000 people to attack the enemy army of 70,000 without food. Zhou led his soldiers to kill more than 10,000 enemies, but after running out of ammunition and food, Zhou refused to retreat, and finally died in front of the battle.

The last evil is just dead.

In the Jin Dynasty, Zhou was still an old department of Eastern Wu, because the old department of Eastern Wu had a good name and combat power, so Zhou was still a scourge. Therefore, everywhere must die, and the government and the opposition are also looking forward to this day.

So, do you still think "Everywhere and Everywhere" is an inspirational story? Do you see the light of humanity in this story?
