And what we think, paint what we see

His works are humorous and philosophical, and his paintings provoke reflection on culture and society from a real and sharp perspective. It is very close to our lives, and what we think, what we see, firewood, rice, oil and salt, laughter and sorrow, or life, or dreams, we are all breathing in the same world.

He prides himself on being a person of the "Four Nons", namely: non-member of the Art Association, non-member of the Book Association, non-graduate of a famous school, and not a disciple of a famous teacher. If measured by convention, there is no doubt that it is absolutely "fake". Many years ago, when he was the moderator of "Calligraphy Jianghu" on the Internet under the screen name of "Hard-mouthed Bird", he wrote an article to the rivers and lakes, and released sharp words of "Please allow me to only cater to myself".

Chen Chen:

Born in Jieyang, Guangdong Province in 1969, he studied painting since childhood, graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Xijiang University in 1993, and traveled back and forth between Beijing and Guangdong.

Exhibition Experience:May 2013, "Spectator" solo exhibition (798 Art District, Beijing);

In August 2013, "Twenty-three Sketches of Chinese Painting" Exhibition of "Elegance of Forests and Springs" (Songzhuang, Beijing);

In December 2013, "Inside and Outside the Courtyard" easel painting tour exhibition (Chaozhou, Guangdong);

In 2015, "Inside and Outside the Hospital" Touring Exhibition (Art Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts, Zhaoqing University, Guangdong);

In May 2015, "Double Travel" Chen Chen and Huang Deping's Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition (Art Museum of Academy of Fine Arts, Zhaoqing University, Guangdong).

Born in the late 60s, his real name is Chen Yanming, and he studied at the Fine Arts Department of Xijiang University (now renamed Zhaoqing University), which has the motto of "Virtue, Wisdom, Erudition, and Practice". After graduation, due to financial constraints, he went out to work and established the ambition of "working to support art". He started his own interior design studio, and then changed his career to open a wood carving furniture custom factory.

He never complained about the busyness and hard work of his part-time job, and never gave up his dream of becoming a professional painter. Later, although his savings became more and more abundant, the time and energy for painting were obviously insufficient, so in order to realize his dream, he handed over the factory to his family to manage and operate, and he finally got out of it and began to work hard for his own artistic life.

As the saying goes, "Ten years to sharpen a sword, once try the edge." "Although he has experienced ups and downs in his artistic journey, this kind of artistic accumulation that is loose on the outside and tight on the inside, and self-pressurized, has finally achieved results, which can be seen from his many solo exhibitions in recent years. It is true that as a platform to display the artistic achievements of the painter at a certain stage, in addition to the investment of human, material and financial resources, the exhibition must also have a series of fascinating paintings to finalize the show.

From the first solo exhibition of "Spectator" in Beijing's 798 Art District, to the sketch exhibition of "Forest Springs" in Songzhuang, and then to the traveling exhibition of "Inside and Outside the Courtyard", Chen Chen has held three solo exhibitions in the art territory of the capital in one year. Subsequently, he returned to his hometown Jieyang to hold a solo exhibition of "Extraordinary Painting", and then to Shantou to hold a "One Poem and One Painting" Zen painting sketch exhibition. This kind of "blowout" in exchange for diligence is admirable.

Chen Chen can be called a confident and calm master in character creation. Many of the characters in his works have no established pattern before they put pen to paper, but rely on a large number of pen and ink exercises and character reserves, which are slowly stimulated in the abdominal draft, and then gradually and arbitrarily generated, until they are created from the heart.

He has a kind of calmness in him, a kind of informal outlook, and a confident and flamboyant soul under the seemingly well-behaved appearance, he is not a "rabbit lying on the flat ground", and his active thinking will not allow him to follow the rules and keep to his own paintings, "ordinary invisible, occasionally revealing." "That's who he really is.
