Xinmin Evening News (Reporter Jin Minjin) The clothes were washed by the laundry, how to deal with the compensation? Recently, Ms. Zhu, a consumer, found that a suit had been washed and could not reach an agreement with the merchant on the amount of compensation, so she complained to the Hongkou District Consumer Protection Committee.

Ms. Zhu said that due to the change of seasons, she sent her family's out-of-season clothes to the laundry for washing, and when she picked up the clothes, she found that a suit had been washed. The laundry fee for the suit was 40 yuan, and the laundry thought that the traces of the suit were obvious, and thought that the maximum compensation was only 20 yuan. Ms. Zhu demanded $500 in compensation. After mediation by the Hongkou District Consumer Protection Committee failed, Ms. Zhu decided to protect her legitimate rights and interests through other means.

According to Article 12 of the "Opinions on the Settlement of Consumer Disputes in the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry" formulated by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, "the operator shall be responsible for the compensation for damage, damage, loss and other accidents caused by poor management or careless operation, and the laundry fee shall be refunded according to the time marked in the original voucher of the purchase of clothes, and the annual depreciation rate shall be 20% (less than one year shall be calculated as one year), increasing year by year. The depreciation rate is not more than 70%. Those who cannot show the original voucher for the purchase of clothes will be compensated at least 20 times the laundry fee. The original price of the clothing should not be exceeded, and the clothing shall be owned by the operator after compensation (except for leather cleaning). ”

Ms. Zhu's suit was "washed" and lost her function of wearing and use, and the operator should have compensated 30%-80% of the original price of the suit, that is, 150 to 400 yuan. However, since the consumer cannot provide the certificate, the value of the suit should be estimated and the compensation should be made according to the multiple of the laundry fee, that is, 40 yuan to 500 yuan.

The Consumer Protection Council reminds consumers to choose regular laundries to receive services as much as possible and master relevant knowledge of rights protection. For high-end clothes worth more than 2,000 yuan, sign the "High-end Clothing Cleaning Service Contract". Before receiving the service, take photos of the state of the clothing and retain evidence. In the event of a dispute, take the initiative to negotiate with the operator to resolve it, or you can seek help from the relevant departments.
