Yang Chaoming, deputy to the National People's Congress and distinguished professor of Shandong University:
Improve policies and measures to build a solid national foundation
Reporter Yu Zhen
The excellent traditional Chinese culture is broad and profound, and it is the spiritual wealth of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, with the successive promulgation of documents such as the "Guiding Outline for Improving the Education of Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture" and the "Guide to the Curriculum and Textbooks of Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture in Primary and Secondary Schools", the excellent traditional Chinese culture has achieved remarkable results in entering campuses, textbooks and classrooms.
How to further take root in the excellent traditional Chinese culture? Yang Chaoming, a deputy to the National People's Congress and a distinguished professor at the Institute for Advanced Study of Confucianism at Shandong University, suggested that compulsory courses on excellent traditional Chinese culture should be considered in primary and secondary schools to promote the education of excellent traditional Chinese culture more accurately.
If Chinese civilization is compared to a big tree that grows endlessly, the reason why the trunk is thick and strong is because its roots are deep and firm. Yang Chaoming said that Chinese civilization is one of the outstanding advantages of our Chinese nation and our profound cultural soft power.
Yang Chaoming has lived and worked in Qufu, Shandong Province for a long time, and has personally experienced and participated in the inheritance and promotion of excellent traditional Chinese culture in the local area. In his research, he found that many traditional cultural classics have entered the campuses of primary and secondary schools and become reading materials. However, the development of excellent traditional Chinese culture education is uneven in various places, and some schools need to improve their understanding of the importance of excellent traditional Chinese culture education.
Yang Chaoming suggested that special institutions should be set up in the state and education departments to guide the implementation of excellent traditional Chinese culture on campus, formulate supporting policies and measures conducive to promoting and implementing the education of excellent traditional Chinese culture, and set up full-time teachers in schools and special fund investment.
Yang Chaoming also suggested that the teaching of compulsory courses of excellent traditional Chinese culture should be organically integrated with the whole school education. On the premise of not increasing the burden of students' homework, we should adhere to the integrity of the system, continue to go deeper, return to the classics, carry forward the essence, and combine knowledge and action.
1. The principle of attaching equal importance to learning and thinking, with cultural classics, ideological essence, spiritual connotation, traditional virtues, and cultural knowledge as the main content, helps students understand Chinese civilization and build a solid national foundation.
Yan Jin, principal of Lhasa Road Primary School, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province:
Explore the hands-on curriculum and integrate it into the daily life of teachers and students
Reporter Yang Wenyi
I often wonder if there really are dragons in this world. On the emperor's dragon robe on display at the Nanjing Yunjin Museum, I saw a dazzling five-clawed golden dragon; On the porcelain and lacquerware exhibited at the Nanjing Museum, I saw the freehand ...... of the flying dragon patternDuring the winter vacation just past, Cai Yitong, a student in Class 3 (6) of Lhasa Road Primary School in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, wrote down her thoughts after reading the "Classic of Mountains and Seas".
Since 2015, Lhasa Road Primary School has explored and practiced the "integrated learning process", and the charm of excellent traditional Chinese culture has been integrated into the daily life of teachers and students.
At Lhasa Road Primary School, every semester has a special week where students briefly "say goodbye" to their subject studies and devote themselves to the integrated practical curriculum. They "apprenticed" with traditional craftsmen, learned to make kites and tie-dye; Visit the ancient capital city wall of Jinling and measure Nanjing with footsteps; Walk into museums and ancient dwellings to immerse yourself in folk ......
The kids loved it so much! This kind of open and diverse learning style is very interesting to children. Principal Yan Jin happily introduced that the "Rongtong Course" has not only been loved by students and parents, but also won the second prize of the 2022 National Teaching Achievement Award.
Over the past 9 years, Lhasa Road Primary School has gone through three stages in its exploration of promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture into the campus, from the students entering the folk museum, the teaching of folk artists, the assistance of school teachers, to the entry of folk artists into the campus, and now to the joint development of courses by experts and professors and school teachers.
This change is not simple, and it is inseparable from the full mobilization of the school's family and community resources. "People care so much about our children and are willing to help us, it depends on how we make good use of these resources. The leader of the school should be a caring person, and amplify and make good use of the excellent traditional Chinese cultural elements in each subject in an open learning way. Yan Jin said.
The excellent traditional Chinese culture is not only learned in the classroom, but more importantly, it is connected with life, the world and society, and learned through practice. Yan Jin hopes that in the future, there will be a more perfect top-level design and teacher training mechanism, integrated design of universities, primary and secondary schools, and the overall promotion of excellent traditional Chinese culture into the campus.
