Once upon a time, there was a kind-hearted farmer whose parents died early and who barely survived on the few acres of thin land left by his parents. He is nearly thirty years old and has not yet started a family.
One day, when the farmer went to the market, he saw an old woman kneeling on the ground with a piece of paper in front of her that said, "Sell your body to bury your husband." There were a lot of people around, and there was a lot of discussion, but no one was willing to help. When the farmer saw that the old woman was pitiful, he remembered his parents who had died young, and he could not bear it, so he took out the few pennies he had and gave them to the old woman, and took her home, taking care of her as if she were his own parents.
The old woman was grateful to the farmer for taking her in, and she worked very hard to keep the house in order. The farmer and the old woman got along well, and the old woman treated the farmer as if he were her own son. A month later, however, the old woman left without saying goodbye, and the farmer was so disappointed that he shook his head helplessly.
A few days later, a splendid carriage came to the door of the farmer's house, and a well-dressed woman stepped out of it. The farmer looked closely, and saw that the woman was the old woman he had taken in. The woman told the farmer that she was the wife of a wealthy merchant in the city, but because her husband had died and her children were unfilial, she had to sell her husband to bury her. Now that she has taken care of her husband's funeral, she has decided to repay the farmer's kindness.
The woman brought the farmer into the city and allowed him to live a prosperous life. The farmer was grateful, and his kindness was rewarded. Since then, the farmer has lived a happy life. This story teaches us that kindness is a precious quality and that it always pays off.
