01.Instrumental performances.
Undergraduate instrumentalists at Carnegie Mellon University can earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in each orchestral instrument, as well as bagpipes, alto, guitar, and saxophone.
At the heart of the instrumental performance major is private studio instruction from Carnegie Mellon University's world-class faculty. Due to its close relationship with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the faculty and staff of the Academy include 20 PSO members, many of whom are the orchestra's leading performers. Well-known teachers from all over the country also travel to the campus to teach the instrument profession in private studios and master class settings.
02.Piano performance.
Undergraduate students at Carnegie Mellon University can earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano Performance. At the heart of the piano performance major is private studio instruction from Carnegie Mellon University's world-class faculty. Master classes by famous visiting artists are added to master classes by the resident teachers.
Collaborative playing is an important part of keyboard lessons. Piano students receive supervised instruction in collaborative piano, keyboard harmony, and chamber music.
03.Vocal performance.
Carnegie Mellon University's vocal performance program prepares singers for careers in opera and the arena. **Alumni of the Academy currently perform with orchestras and opera companies around the world, as well as performing on Broadway.
Vocal Performance students learn classical bel canto singing with an emphasis on vocal health. Four semesters of acting and dancing improved their acting skills. Each year, the College presents two fully staged productions at the Philip Chosky Theatre at the Purnell Center for the Arts and a third fully staged production at the Alumni Concert Hall. All productions were designed by students of the School of Drama.
Vocal Performance students also learn Italian, French, and German, as well as English language dictions; Recitals in junior and senior years include repertoire in all four languages.
04.Composition.
*The college has an intensive composition program and a computer technology-rich university environment with a strong emphasis on contemporary**. All members of the School of Composition are professional composers who share with students the creative evolution of their works in a mentor-apprentice relationship. Students create works for all types of instrumental and vocal groups.

CMU's Electronics major combines emerging practical instruction such as sound design, computer-based generation, and electroacoustic media performance with the rigorous education of traditional disciplines. Our students build on our theoretical, historical, sight-singing, and conducting courses to explore emerging models of sound synthesis, creative coding, and electronic instrument design. The Electronic Profession combines the study of electronic composition, performance, production, and sound art to form a comprehensive approach to future-oriented production.

Carnegie Mellon University's Technology & Technology Program was established in 2009 as a joint program between three schools: the College, the School of Computer Science, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Undergraduate and graduate students are able to hone their skills in an interdisciplinary environment, focusing on selected areas of study, such as recording technology, audio engineering, computing, composition, performance, and theory. The Collaborative Piano Program provides professional training for pianists pursuing to work with vocalists and instrumentalists, providing the necessary skills and artistry for an important field that is constantly evolving. Graduating collaboratively pianists are never without a job, and CMU's degree programs provide students with the tools and hands-on experience for their careers in the field.
