Zengcheng District supports high-quality development with a high-quality ecological environment, comprehensively promotes the construction of beautiful rivers and lakes with Zengjiang River as the focus, coordinates the management of water resources, water environment and water ecology, continuously improves the level of river and lake management, protection and governance, continues to promote the steady improvement of water environment quality, and strives to build charming rivers and lakes and happy rivers and lakes that benefit the people.

Strengthen the tone of "strictness" and increase the comprehensive improvement of the water environment. Adhere to the strategy of the main functional zone, and at the same time, based on the protection of the whole area, the whole main stream of the Zengjiang River is basically designated as a water source protection area, which provides a fundamental guarantee for the protection of the water ecological environment. Strengthen infrastructure construction, and build 4 urban sewage treatment plants in 7 towns and streets in the basin (with a total treatment scale of 16050,000 tons of rural domestic sewage treatment facilities have realized full collection and treatment of sewage. Further promote the monitoring and assessment of full coverage of surface water, build 3 automatic water quality monitoring stations and 6 routine monitoring sections in the main stream of the Zengjiang River, and lay out 90 monitoring sections in 81 rivers and lakes, with monthly monitoring and assessment and ranking reports, so as to promote the comprehensive and in-depth implementation of the long-term system of rivers and lakes. Strengthen the normal management of 15 types of water-related pollution sources to ensure that the water quality of drinking water sources is stable and up to standard. Since 2019, the water quality of the entire Zengjiang River has been stable and has reached the class, and the "beautiful water is always clear".
Strengthen the tone of "progress" and do a good job in risk management and control of the whole basin of Zengjiang River. Implementing the spirit of Nanyang's practice, 34 environmental emergency spaces and facilities in the main stream of the Zengjiang River were identified, including 4 sluices and dams, 28 bridges, and 2 river-type rivers in the heart of the river, and the "One River, One Policy, One Map" Environmental Emergency Response Plan for the Zengjiang River Basin was compiled. Combined with the relocation project of the water intake of Kedeng Mountain Water Plant, a new water intake will be built, and the original water intake will be retained, so as to further improve the stability of water supply by exchanging space for time and ensuring safety with time. Invested about 98750,000 yuan to build an environmental emergency materials and equipment warehouse, relying on third-party professional forces to establish an emergency team, adhere to regular drills, to ensure that "at any time to pull, use, win".
Biodiversity has been effectively protected, and "fish and grass" have been realized
Strengthen the demonstration of "good" and strive to create happy and beautiful rivers and lakes. Beautiful landscape nodes such as Lihu Wetland, Hezhizhou Wetland Park, and Huxin Island Wetland Park have been built along the Zengjiang River, and there is a national aquatic germplasm resources protection area for Zengjiang Guang barbed catfish and large spiny loach, which is rich in aquatic animals and plants, and biodiversity has been effectively protected, so as to achieve "fish and grass" in a stable manner. In November 2023, Zengjiang Gallery Water Conservancy Scenic Area was successfully selected into the list of typical cases of high-quality development of national water conservancy scenic spots. Through the overall management of the three waters, we will make up for the weak and short boards of the water environment, protect and restore the ecological environment, highlight the humanistic history of rivers and lakes, improve the quality of riverbank landscapes, enhance the management capabilities of rivers and lakes, promote the construction of beautiful rivers and lakes in Zengcheng District, and strive to create happy and beautiful rivers and lakes.
