After that, the archaeologists began to excavate in detail. And those seemingly insignificant squares are well-known in archaeology.
At the same time, among the 902 burial objects unearthed, some of the pottery surfaces are decorated with mysterious symbols. Among them, most of the 523 pieces of pottery are daily necessities, and its earthy urn with its protruding belly design is very suitable for holding wine.
Other clay pots, pottery jars and pottery jars are also essential for daily life. However, it wasn't long before experts discovered an anomaly on one of the clay pots.
In addition to two identical symbols carved on the inside of the mouth of this clay pot, experts have found similar symbols on another 426 pieces of pottery. There are as many as 236 of these symbols, and their repetition rate is very low, and the symbols are less standardized.
The symbols on the pottery represent a custom of the ancestors of the pre-Qin period in the Lingnan region, who would carve symbols on the pottery. Experts compared the pottery of the three sites and found that their firing materials came from the local unique pure and high territory, which was in line with the habit of the ancestors of the Shang and Zhou dynasties to fire ceramics.
The tomb is not only made of pottery, but also a rare treasure - jade. Jade jue is not only found in bronze and jade crystals, but these jade jue are shaped like chalk, but the abdomen is hollow, and the length of each section is about 4 7 cm, which is really rare.
These jade pipes are undoubtedly the accessories of the ancestors, and we have also found similar jade pipes in the Liangzhu cultural sites in North China. However, the jade tube unearthed from the Hengling Mountain site is slightly different from that in North China, it is milky white and flattened as a whole, which is obviously deliberately polished.
These jade pipes reflect from the side that thousands of years ago, the ancestors of the Hengling Mountain area had begun to carry out cultural exchanges and cultural exchanges with the tribal countries in the surrounding areas, and gradually formed a unique cultural and utensils style in frequent exchanges.
At the same time, the aesthetics of the ancestors were also fully demonstrated by the manufacture of such decorative ancient jewelry. In order to more accurately determine the identity of the ancestors, experts continue to search for clues in the tombs.
Immediately afterwards, a pair of bronze Yong bells of the late Western Zhou Dynasty were unearthed in the tomb, they have the same shape, similar ornamentation, one large and one small shape, well preserved, very exquisite.
You must know that in the Central Plains region of ancient China, the Yong bell symbolized noble status and supreme power.
Some of the ancestors in the tombs of Hengling Mountain have a very noble social status. In addition to the Yong bell, a precious three-legged tripod was unearthed in the tomb, which further proves this.
This three-legged tripod is as high as 224 cm, weighing 1,350 grams, it has a unique shape and its abdomen is decorated with a dragon, swirl and four-petal eye pattern. The bottom is based on thunder patterns, the top foot is hollow, the whole is semi-circular, and the root is thick, like a beast's head.
This kind of tripod represents status in the Central Plains culture and is a symbol of the country. It is mainly used to worship the heavens and ancestors. It can be seen that the people who used these utensils for burial must have been the leaders or nobles of the tribe at that time.
