On a hot June day in 1958, a realistic opera vividly depicting the oppression of peasants by rural landlords in the past was shockingly presented to people. The plot tells the story of a 17-year-old girl who, after being brutally oppressed by a landlord, fled to the mountains and began a 16-year life of seclusion, where the living conditions were extremely difficult, so that her appearance and behavior changed dramatically. The protagonist in this work is known as the "white-haired girl", and her real identity is Luo Changxiu, a peasant girl from Fengyi Township, Sichuan. Her family lived peacefully in a beautiful village in Yibin until two brothers from a neighboring village coveted their land, causing Luo Changxiu's family to suffer an unprecedented disaster.
Luo Xizhang and Luo Xilian, the two brothers, by virtue of their family power and personal status, exerted great pressure on Luo Changxiu's family in an attempt to forcibly occupy their land. In the face of powerful oppression, Luo Changxiu's father was unyielding, but eventually died in a brutal blow. Luo Changxiu himself was also forced to become a slave, Jing.
Endless suffering. At one chance, she escaped from this hellish life and chose to live in seclusion in the depths of Guillotine Mountain, away from the world that made her miserable.
In these lonely and long years, Luo Changxiu's life is poignant. She lacked the most basic living security, had no food, no clothing, and greatly degraded her language skills and social habits, and in the end, her black hair turned white and became what people called "white-haired girl". Despite the hardships of life, Na Chang-so persevered, and her story became a symbol of the indomitable spirit of the era.
With the passage of time, the arrival of the People's Liberation Army in 1950 brought great changes to Fengyi Township. However, because of his ignorance of the changes in the outside world and the fear of the threats that may still exist, Luo Changxiu chose to stay in the mountains. It was not until 1952, with the liquidation of the crimes of landlords by law, that she re-entered society. After going down the mountain, Luo Changxiu, although he experienced the grief of his mother's death, his life gradually improved. In 1957, she married Hao Shurong, and the following year ushered in the birth of a new life, and the family finally got happiness and tranquility. During this year, she also received the kind care of the country's leaders, which was not only a consolation to her personal suffering, but also an affirmation of her perseverance.
