Mason Greenwood has offered to return to the national team and I would love to have him in my squad

Mason Greenwood made his only appearance for England in September 2020, but FIFA rules allowed the loaned Manchester United striker to play for Jamaica.

Jamaica boss Jaimer Hargrimson says he is "happy" to return Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood to international football.

Mason Greenwood, who made one appearance for England against Iceland in September 2020 and is now on loan at Getafe, is unlikely to receive Gareth Southgate's call-up ahead of Euro 2024 in June this year. The 22-year-old joined Getafe when Manchester United decided to leave the club to continue his career, as he was charged with attempted **, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault causing actual bodily harm – all of which he denied – in February 2023, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charge.

Through his father, Andrew, who is qualified to play for Jamaica, there have been multiple reports in recent years that the Jamaican Football Association (JFF) has been open to the idea of Greenwood representing them rather than England. Under current FIFA rules, the Manchester United Academy graduate will be eligible to change his national team loyalty.

Speaking at the CONCACAF preview in Dallas on Tuesday, Jamaica coach Hal Grimson confirmed he had discussed Greenwood's prospects. "I don't really like to talk about 'ifs', but that's certainly what comes to mind," the Icelandic coach told The Athletic.

I would love to have him on my team. Like all coaches, I want our team to have the best players, but it always depends on the players themselves who are willing to do so. ”

Since joining Getafe in September, Greenwood has scored seven goals and provided five assists. His form even prompted him to move to Barcelona in the summer, but Manchester United's new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has revealed that the club will reassess Greenwood's future at the end of the season.

We're going to make a decision, right," Ratcliffe said last month. "All I can do is talk about the principles of how we made such decisions. Is he the right type of footballer? Are we happy with whether he is a good person or not?

He's a Manchester United player, so we're in charge of football. So the answer is, 'Yes, we have to make a decision.'" It was clear that we had to make a decision. No decision has been made yet. He's obviously on loan, but he's not the only one. We have to play against one or two players, we have to make decisions, so we'll do that.

The process will be: know the facts, not the hype. And then try to make a fair decision based on values, which is basically whether he is a good person or not? Will we be comfortable if he can play for Manchester United sincerely? "Will the fans feel comfortable? **10,000 Fans Incentive Plan
