Yamaha s 2024 Niken GT three wheeled sport touring motorcycle

Mondo Cars Updated on 2024-03-07

The Yamaha Niken GT is a motorcycle that challenges convention, and it attracts attention with its uniqueness.

Since its debut in 2017, this three-wheeled, three-cylinder sports tourer has attracted a lot of attention.

After a rock climbing experience, the Yamaha design team realized that two-handed manoeuvring was far more robust than one-handed, so they cleverly added a wheel to improve the car's grip and front-end performance.

Although the steering of the Niken GT is a little heavier than that of a motorcycle of its same displacement, in other respects it has all the qualities of a full-fledged sport tourer.

In particular, the front suspension allows the two front wheels to operate independently, a feature that may take a while to get used to, but it doesn't take long to feel its unique charm.

Equipped with twin 15-inch tires, the Niken GT has a grip comparable to that of a gymnast.

You can confidently drive through the rough terrain that you would normally take a detour.

Three different engine modes can be switched on the go, and if you're brave enough, you can even try turning off the traction control system and letting both front wheels fly off the ground.

The Niken GT is only slightly wider than a regular two-wheeler, which means it can still maneuver through heavy traffic.

For the 2024 riders, Yamaha got what they wanted—an all-new CP3 890cc engine with 42cc more displacement that delivered plenty of smooth torque.

The seat has been redesigned so that even shorter riders can touch the floor with ease, avoiding awkward situations.

In terms of technical configuration, a 7-inch screen integrates connectivity and a full Garmin navigation system.

All operations can be done with a new five-way joystick, which was once controversial'Yamaha wheels'is a thing of the past.

The Niken GT is hard to beat in terms of front grip and its consistent cornering performance is sure to win over many riders – this third wheel will undoubtedly be the darling of the party forever.

All in all, the Niken GT is only slightly wider than a regular two-wheeler, so you can still navigate the traffic with ease and enjoy the freedom and excitement.
