Ms. Ren, a citizen, recently reported to "The First Live Room" that she had opened a credit card, and after using it for a few years, she repaid more and more, and finally couldn't pay it back. What's going on?
Due to the need for capital turnover and daily use, in 2019, Ms. Ren, a citizen, applied for a credit card from the Bank of Guangzhou. At first, this credit card was still used for normal consumption and repayment, but after a while, this credit card was not repaid.
Reporter Ms. Ren: I didn't notice it at first, but then my husband asked me to go to the bank to make a statement. I typed the bill and communicated with the credit card customer service staff of the Bank of Guangzhou, only to find several problems.
Ms. Ren found out that she had inadvertently repaid the loan in installments. In other words, every time you make a purchase on your credit card, you will automatically repay it in installments, which will incur endless installment fees. When confirming whether the bill should be repaid in installments, it was confirmed that all the consumption amounts were summarized together, and there was no separate breakdown, so she was not very clear about the details of the bill.
Reporter Ms. Ren: When you confirm the bill, you will collect all the total amount and ask you to sign the consent form. My first reaction was that it was a large amount, so I agreed to installments. In fact, there are more than 10 or even 20 transactions in this amount. I suspect that it is to make money in installments, because there are several small amounts of more than a hundred, which are also made in installments.
In order to repay the loan in the later stage, Ms. Ren began to tear down the east wall and make up the west wall - first take out the money and then deposit it to repay, and this wave of operations will undoubtedly lead to more and more installment repayments. Ms. Ren said that she has repaid more than 90,000 yuan, but the bill shows that she still owes more than 90,000 yuan. After Ms. Ren reconciled the account, she found that she had borrowed more than 100,000 yuan of principal from this credit card, and also handled 2A cash loan of 70,000 yuan will be repaid together with the credit card. According to Ms. Ren, she owes a total of 12 to the Bank of GuangzhouMore than 70,000 yuan.
Ms. Ren: There are more and more accounts, from a few hundred per month, to the last month, 10,000 or even 20,000 yuan, so much so that I can't afford it.
Ms. Ren was worried that she was involved in a scam and turned to a reporter for help. The reporter then came to the Bank of Guangzhou, which is located on Wenchang 2nd Road in the downtown area, to understand the situation, and the staff did not reply positively, but promised to verify the matter.
Before the press release, the staff of the Bank of Guangzhou had negotiated with Ms. Ren and made a concession to reduce Ms. Ren's interest, and only the principal needs to be repaid. Ms. Ren preliminarily agreed to the consultation plan.
As for how much interest and interest were generated on Ms. Ren's installment payment and later cash loan, and what the interest rate was, neither side was willing to explain to reporters. The lawyer reminds that consumers also need to be alert to the corresponding risks when using installments and loans, and the specific interest rates, installments and comprehensive fees involved should be carefully studied, and consumption choices should be made according to their actual situation.
