The WTT 2024 Tunisia Junior Challenge is underway, a grand event that brings together male and female table tennis players from around the world in the 19 to 11 age group. However, it is worth noting that the Chinese team did not leave any figure on the entry list, which has caused some reflection.
Although other Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, etc., have sent a large number of young players to participate in the competition of all ages, the Chinese team chose to be absent. The ITTF was puzzled by this, and they called on the Chinese Table Tennis Association to pay more attention to the development of youth table tennis and actively participate in international competitions.
At present, the Chinese Table Tennis Association mainly selects talents through selection competitions and includes them in the national team training. However, the lack of participation in international competitions may limit the development of young table tennis players in China.
Under the expectations of the International Table Tennis Federation, the Chinese Table Tennis Association needs to think seriously to provide more international stages for young table tennis players and promote Chinese table tennis to a higher level.
Let us hope that the Chinese Table Tennis Association can actively respond to the call of the International Table Tennis Federation, inject more vitality into the cause of Chinese youth table tennis, and pave the way for the future of Chinese table tennis.
