According to Agence France-Presse 5**, Tesla Inc. and local German authorities said that on Tuesday, someone suspected of setting fire to a high-voltage line near Tesla's German factory, causing a power outage at Tesla's only manufacturing plant in Europe, and Tesla was forced to stop production at the German factory.

A statement from Tesla said: "In the early hours of the morning, there was a power outage on the public power grid due to a suspected arson attack, resulting in a halt in production. ”

Tesla's German factory is located in Grünheide, southeast of Berlin. Reuters, citing Berlin**, reported that the Tesla factory and parts of the area were without power. The newspaper added that a bomb disposal team had already been sent to the scene.

CNBC in the United States, citing local sources, said that the incident initially looked like arson, and an investigation is currently underway. According to the report, at present, Tesla's Glen Hyde Gigafactory is preparing to expand, but the expansion plan has met with strong opposition from local residents. The U.S. automaker aims to double its battery production capacity to produce 1 million cars a year. Last month, however, locals voted down a plan to raze nearby trees to make way for the expansion of the factory.
