On March 17, 1946, after Dai Li's plane crash, the first to arrive at the scene of the death was a small team led by Li Renren, director of the Nanjing Office of the Military Command.
At that time, the scene was horrific, and the scene had been washed into chaos by several days of heavy rain, and the wreckage of the plane was parabolic in a large area of mud halfway up the mountainside, and the charred stumps were horribly mixed with the wreckage of the plane. After two days of treasure hunting by nearby farmers, the corpses were mixed with muddy water, and some of the corpses had been washed by the rain into a ditch called "Sleepy Rain Ditch" on the mountainside.
Li immediately instructed the spies and hired migrant workers to clean up the corpses one by one, wrap them in white cloth, line them up, and place them on the slope of Daishan. After repeated counts, a total of 13 corpses were found. Since each corpse burned like a black carbon rod, the agents could no longer tell who was wearing a hat.
In the end, it was Jia Jinnan, an old adjutant who had followed Dai Li, for many years, who identified Dai Li's body through the six gold teeth inlaid above and below Dai Li's left scooping teeth before his death.
Dai Li's violent death without warning, and in the form of a mysterious crash, is full of conspiracy, and there are many theories over the years
Some people believe that Dai Li died from a rabbit and a dead dog, and his tail was too big to fall, and according to his security level and precautions, only Lao Jiang had the ability to put him to death.
Some people also think that Dai Li's work is too desperate and has offended many Kuomintang magnates, and many people want to kill him, among which the most suspicious is his long-time rivals, Chen Lifu and Chen Guofu, the bosses of the CC department.
Some people also believe that it was the Americans who killed Dai Li, in order to deter Lao Chiang, after all, Dai Li was once regarded as Lao Chiang's sword, and Dai Li's plane was on an American plane, so it was easy for the Americans to do things and have excuses.
But more people believe that Dai Li died at the hands of Ma Hansan, the head of the Beiping Station of the Military Control Bureau, and the most direct evidence is that Dai Li has a Nine Dragons sword that is said to have been worn by Qianlong, which was temporarily handed over to Ma Hansan for safekeeping, and later Ma Hansan was captured by the Japanese army, so he gave this Nine Dragons Sword to Kawashima Yoshiko, and after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Kawashima Yoshiko was arrested by the military commanders, and the sword went around and around and returned to Dai Li's hands.
Ma Hansan believed that Dai Li's handle had already been grasped, and it was a matter of time before he was cleaned up, so in order to survive, he simply struck first and sent his spies to secretly plant a time bomb on Dai Li's special plane.
However, the Kuomintang authorities did not admit the various theories that Dai Li died in **, and the cause of death they announced was that the plane encountered bad weather and crashed accidentally.
Most of the old Kuomintang people who have a certain inside story do not agree with these statements.
Clause. 1. After the victory of the anti-Zhang resistance, although the influence of the military command was very great, it was not yet so great that the merit was high, and at that time, Lao Jiang was bent on fighting the civil war, and his consideration for Dai Li was not the question of whether to kill or not, but the question of how to use it better.
Clause. Second, Dai Li's relationship with the Americans was a honeymoon period at that time, and the Americans had no reason to get rid of him.
Clause. Third, to say that Ma Hansan did something to kill Dai Li, it would be too much to underestimate Dai Li. Dai Li's entry and exit, the guards were strict, the plane had to be closely inspected before taking off, and during that period, Dai Li's vigilance was very high, and it was impossible for Ma Hansan's people to install a time bomb on the plane.
Clause. Fourth, after the victory of the anti-Zhang system, the CC system is no longer good, and assassination has never been the specialty of the CC system, they don't have this ability. As for Dai Li's other political enemies, assassination is not their best option.
Clause. 5. Dai Li's special plane was the best performing American aircraft at that time; The pilots of the special plane were also the top at the time. With such hardware conditions, even if the weather is bad, the probability of the plane hitting the mountain is extremely low.
It is worth noting that half a century later, Dai Li's secret lover, Chen Hua, a female spy of the military commander, confided in the truth of Dai Li's death that she believed to be before she died.
According to Chen Hua's recollection, in March 1946, before leaving for Beiping, Dai Li stayed at her house. That night, Dai Li couldn't sleep for a long time, and his spirit was very restless.
At that time, the boss was struggling with what to do with the military command, and he learned from him that the chairman of the committee had decided to abolish the military command, and in this way, the boss would fall into a situation from which he could never recover, after all, he knew too many secrets. ”
At that time, I could only persuade the boss not to worry too much, and the chairman would still protect him, but the boss was obviously a little disheartened, and even hummed the drama in "Weiyang Palace". ”
In Chen Hua's opinion, Boss Dai was most likely unwilling to become the second Han Xin, so he finally chose to commit suicide.
Chen Hua's basis is: "When the boss died, his right hand was raised, his fist was clenched, which is his typical habit after shooting, there is no doubt that the boss died with the plane after shooting the pilot." ”
According to Dai Li's posture at the time of his death, it is inferred that Dai Li had shot before the crash, Chen Hua knew Dai Li very well, so her statement was considered by many people to have a certain reference value, but according to this, it is a bit reluctant to say that Dai Li committed suicide, after all, this is not quite in line with Dai Li's situation and psychology at that time.
So, is there another possibility, Dai Li's shooting was to stop the pilot of the special plane?
Interestingly, Du Yuesheng's son Du Weishan once disclosed a paragraph that implied this statement.
According to Du Weishan, after Dai Li's arrival in Qingdao, Du Yuesheng had a special communication with Dai Li**. In **, Du Yuesheng made it clear to Dai Li, the weather is bad, don't fly again, fly again in two days!
Dai Li said no, if you go to Nanjing for a meeting, you must go.
Du Weishan said that in those days, there were many things in Shanghai, and the first-hand news was to Du's house first. My father (Du Yuesheng) had the most information at that time, and before and after Dai Li's plane crashed into the mountain, there were always some clues to be revealed. My father told Dai Li that the weather was bad, which was a code phrase that someone was going to assassinate him. Some things are not clear, this is the rule, because many times the news is not very certain, but Dai Li was too confident at that time to listen.
So the question is, what kind of information did Du Yuesheng get?
Du Weishan believed that only the pilot was ready to die, and Dai Li could not find it and could not prevent it, and this was the reason why he shot in the end. That is, the pilot was turned against him and turned red.
