In the first month, traditional folk festivals are like bright stars, embellishing people's lives. Among the stars, the twenty-sixth day of the first lunar month is particularly unique, because it is given the reputation of "Guanyin borrowing day". On this day, Guanyin opens her treasury and people pray to her for good fortune in the hope of being nourished by wealth. Therefore, grand sacrificial ceremonies are often held on this day in order to bring wealth like a tidal wave and wealth to be abundant.
So, what is the origin of Kannon's opening day? Here we have two sayings. One is that during Guanyin's cultivation, 500 ** Arhats incarnated as monks in the world to seek food in the Guanyin Temple in order to test her cultivation results.
Seeing this, Guanyin opened her warehouse and let the monks enjoy the food. Another theory is that the people participated in the construction of the temple, and in order to show their gratitude, Guanyin opened her treasury on the twenty-sixth day of the first lunar month and lent money and seeds to the people to help them escape poverty. Later, in order to commemorate the good deeds of Guanyin, people flocked to the temple on this day to pray to Guanyin Bodhisattva for blessings and prosperity.
So, what is the "library" in the opening day of Kannon? Nowadays, it is generally believed that it refers to a warehouse where money, grain, and other goods are stored, in short, where Guanyin Bodhisattva stores his gold and silver treasures. This treasury symbolizes endless wealth and good fortune.
On this day, people borrow money from Guanyin, implying that they hope that Guanyin Bodhisattva will grant them good luck and wealth. Corresponding to this is the 19th day of the lunar month, on which people will make vows and thank Guanyin Bodhisattva for their gifts, so it is also called "returning to the library".
In view of the fact that today is the day of the opening of the Guanyin library, and the common people take this opportunity to pray for money, what are the customs that are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people on this special day that are worth noting? Gu Xunyun "Don't do the twenty-sixth three, the Year of the Dragon will pass smoothly", tomorrow coincides with the twenty-sixth day of the first month, what three things should not be done? Here are a few suggestions for your reference:
First of all, when praying to Guanyin for wealth, one must avoid being greedy and should not pursue excessive favoritism or windfalls. There is a saying in traditional Chinese culture that "the human heart is not enough for a snake to swallow an elephant", which means that people should have self-knowledge and uphold a correct view of wealth in order to attract good luck to always be around. If you blindly dream of a great wealth that you can get without hard work, even the gods will not be able to help you.
Secondly, on the twenty-sixth day of the first lunar month, if you want to follow traditional customs, you must pay attention to your appearance and demeanor, and do not look unkempt and indecent. The ancients warned that "wealth does not enter the dirty door, and blessing does not enter the dirty land", and at this special moment, special emphasis is placed on personal manners and neat appearance, which is respect for oneself and others. It is true that on such a day of praying for wealth, it is all the more important to dress up carefully in order to win good luck.
Furthermore, on the occasion of the opening day of Guanyin, it is a very important quality to have kindness and be grateful. Whoever receives the favor of others should be reciprocated by the spring, as the saying goes, "the grace of a drop of water should be reciprocated by the spring". When borrowing from Guanyin, we must not only be grateful, but also know how to give back in a timely manner, which is the so-called "return to the library".
On this special day, we should sincerely pray for just and reasonable wealth, put an end to utopian dreams and greed, never lose our gratitude, and become a person who knows how to be grateful for pictures.
