Economic Observer reporter Huang YifanOn March 6, the Economic Observer Network learned from Shenghong Holding Group that this year, Miao Hangen, a representative of the National People's Congress and chairman of Shenghong Holding Group, brought two proposals on green and low-carbon, involving the petrochemical industry and the fiber industry.
Regarding the fiber industry, Miao Hangen said that the industry is accelerating the exploration of a green manufacturing system with green materials, cleaner production, green certification, and circular development as the core.
In December 2023, the state jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for the Quality Improvement and Upgrading of the Textile Industry (2023-2025)", proposing that by 2025, substantial progress will be made in the construction of China's modern textile industry system, requiring the acceleration of the construction of textile green factories, green products, green chains, and green parks, formulating and promoting textile product recycling mark standards, and improving the level of textile green design.
Miao Hangen said that green fiber refers to the chemical fiber that is made of biomass or recyclable raw materials, the production process is low-carbon and environmentally friendly, and the finished products are environmentally friendly or renewable. At present, China's green fibers are mainly bio-based chemical fibers, degradable fiber materials and recycled polyester fibers. These green fibers belong to "low-carbon" or "zero-carbon" products.
In Miao Hangen's view, from the perspective of the development effectiveness of carbon governance, carbon-negative technology will become an important governance tool and governance method in the carbon governance process. For fibers, "negative carbon" fibers will be an important development trend.
He pointed out that "negative carbon" refers to the absorption and conversion of carbon dioxide, "'negative carbon fiber' is the fiber produced with carbon dioxide as an important raw material. Technically, the production of 'negative carbon fiber' is achievable. ”
In September 2023, Shenghong Holding Group built the industry's first industrial chain of "carbon dioxide capture and utilization-green methanol-new energy materials" in Lianyungang. It is estimated that the industrial chain can indirectly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 550,000 tons per year, equivalent to 370,000 hectares of forest planting. Based on this production line, carbon dioxide capture, liquefaction, purification, green methanol can be produced, and carbon negative ethylene glycol can be produced, and then carbon negative polyester (PET) can be produced.
At present, Shenghong is planning to build an annual output of 30,000 tons of carbon-negative polyester fiber polymerization and spinning equipment, which will become the world's first carbon-negative polyester fiber factory.
However, Miao Hangen said that the negative carbon fiber industry is in the exploration period, industrialization has not yet been formed, and there are many difficulties to be solved in the development process. For example, negative carbon fiber is a new thing, with high production costs, a lack of carbon footprint certification system, and insufficient understanding of the market and consumers.
In this regard, Miao Hangen suggested: increase policy guidance and promote the coordinated development of the industrial chain; Establish a carbon footprint certification system to enhance the market recognition of negative carbon fiber; Strengthen brand building and guide consumers to green consumption.
