"At present, China's new energy vehicles and electrochemical energy storage are growing rapidly, and power batteries such as lithium batteries will gradually enter a large-scale retirement period. Doing a good job in the utilization of retired power batteries is conducive to protecting the ecological environment and enhancing the competitiveness of the new energy industry chain. Bai Jingyang, a deputy to the National People's Congress and the leader of the welding squad of the PetroChina Jilin Chemical Construction Project, said.
Bai Jingyang introduced that most of the retired power batteries have about 80% of the battery capacity, and if they can be used through cascades, the life cycle cost of power batteries can be reduced by 30% to 60%. Due to the lack of overall planning and the imperfect system, in recent years, the actual processing capacity of lithium batteries and other power batteries in China has been less than 20% of the production capacity.
Deputy Bai Jingyang suggested that the relevant departments pay more attention to the utilization of lithium batteries and other power batteries to enhance the toughness of the key metal chain. Combined with the planning of new energy vehicles, energy storage and related industrial parks, we will make overall plans for the production of lithium batteries and the whole industry chain, explore the establishment of a comprehensive utilization system covering all lithium batteries and other power batteries, and encourage all domestic production and use of lithium batteries and other power batteries. At the same time, special laws and regulations for the full life cycle management of power batteries have been formulated and introduced to strengthen the responsibility and binding force.
