Lost Ark is about to get a big server merge, and the news comes as the game celebrates its second anniversary. There will be a new round of merges this week and next, and players can get a sneak peek at the details of these changes, courtesy of the Smilegate RPG and Amazon teams.
The first round of server consolidation will take place on Wednesday, March 6, and the second round will take place on March 13. Since there will be some servers merging this week, and these servers will be merging with others next week, these merges have been split into two separate phases. The team suggested that due to the amount of data involved, they expected downtime of up to 16 hours per merge.
The Central Europe, East North America, West North America and South America regions will all be merged. For example, North America East will have 16 servers merged into 8 this week, and those 8 servers will be merged into 4 next week. The number of servers in South America will be reduced from 4 to 2 and eventually merged into 1. In these regions, the merger is particularly significant, as it will eventually result in the creation of a huge region of the Americas. At the moment, there are a few things to know about your character and item inventory.
Due to the high number of servers affected, your role may be affected, and if it is not affected this week, it may be affected next week. The team says that most of the characters and items you own will be handled as follows:
Maximum - Item The system is set to the highest value in both lists. Min - Item The system is set to the lowest value in both lists. Sum - The values of the two lists are summed. The Union - Item system is added together and duplicate items are removed. Reset - The system will be reset to the default value. Head over to Lost Ark for details on which servers will be merged this week or next, and how to handle each character and item in preparation for the change.
