Under Windows 11, turn off the screen to let the hard disk or mobile hard disk continue to work.
I often have to hang up, but I don't need the screen to light up so as not to waste electricity. So I want the computer to be able to turn off the screen and still run the program.
The default setting under Windows 11 is that as long as you turn off the computer screen for a period of time, the computer will sleep and there will be no way to execute the program. If you want your computer to run the program with the screen off, you'll need to set it in the power options.
Here's how to set it up:
1.After entering Windows 11, click Start, Settings, and Power & Battery to enter the following states.
2.After clicking "Screen & Sleep" to enter, make the following settings.
In the items above:
For the two items of "Turn off the screen after idle time when using battery power" and "Turn off the screen after idle time when plugged in", you need to set an appropriate amount of time, such as 15 minutes. Otherwise, it will not achieve the purpose of automatically turning off the screen and saving power.
Never must be set to Never for Never when using battery power and put the device to sleep after idle for the following time and when plugged in. The effect is that when the screen goes off, the computer will continue to work.
3.Sometimes when hanging up, a USB external hard drive is used. If you want to let the USB external hard drive continue to work after turning off the screen, you also need to click "Energy Saving Suggestions" in the figure above and make the following settings.
Click on the item below that says "Stop USB devices when the screen is off to help save battery" and enter:
Change "USB battery saver mode" to "Off".
After the above settings, you can turn off the screen and continue to run the program.
