Two of Toronto's famous European pastry bakeries have suddenly closed their doors permanently.
One is a 61-year-old pastry bakery, and the other is a French bakery based in Quebec that has closed their only branch in Toronto, and many customers have expressed shock.
Hansen, a long-established pastry bakery in Pape Village'S Danish Pastry abruptly closed on March 1. Since its opening in 1963, the store has been very popular with customers.
It is a family-owned business that has a variety of breads and desserts, including Danish pies, kranskage, pastries, sweet tarts, and more.
The bakery, which has served the community for more than 60 years, is now permanently closed with a closure notice posted on the door.
The notice posted on the window reads that the business has officially closed on March 1, 2024.
The news came as a shock and disappointment to many loyal customers.
While the notice offered little explanation for the reason for the closure, it emphasized gratitude to customers who have supported the neighborhood since they moved into it in 1963.
The note's note read: "We sincerely thank you for your support over the past 61 years and for making us a part of your special moment. ”

Before closing the pastry bakery on Pape**E, Hansen'S Danish Pastry also has its products at the York Farmers Market in Thornhill and Sunset Villa** on the outskirts of Guelph.
While their products still appear to be available at Sunset Villa, there's no word on whether they'll continue to be at the York Farmers' Market**.
Another well-known bakery, Quebec-based French bakery Les Moulins La Fayette, has now closed their only branch in Toronto.
What started in Quebec in 1999 as a French pastry, bakery and bakery store opened its first location in Toronto in 2020. But the bakery has now posted a notice on its door, announcing that it will be permanently closed from February 29.
The closure notice reads, "It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Les Moulins La Fayette will be closed at the end of this month. ”
Yomna, the owner of the place, and the LMLF team wrote, "I would like to thank the community, the loyal customers, and the fact that Les Moulins La Fayette feels like home. He also thanked the hard-working staff for nearly four years of dedication to StThe Clair West community offers freshly baked pastries.
After the news spread online, many people expressed sadness.
It was sad to hear the news. Love your pastries, bread and quiche," one netizen wrote.
It is reported that other Les Moulins La Fayette stores across Canada are currently open, including Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary and Montreal, as well as the first U.S. store in Miami.
