One of the most important effects of home theater is surround sound, and now high-quality film sources support Dolby sound, so if there is no such effect, then home theater will lose its meaning;
There are two ways to achieve surround sound
1. Digital analog virtual surround sound, almost most of the sound bars (soundbars) are using this method, the advantages of this method are low cost and easy installation, you can see my previous introduction:
How to choose ceiling speakers and sound bars?
2. According to the official recommendation of Dolby's official website, choose to use multiple speakers to form a multi-channel sound effect;
If you choose digital-analogised virtual surround sound, you really don't need an amplifier, and if you choose to buy multiple speakers to form a multi-channel surround, there are two ways:
Choose an active bookshelf box and subwoofer to compose 51 or 71-channel surround sound effect, which generally lacks a sky channelSome brands will replace ceiling-mounted speakers with reflex speakers with elevation or wall-mounted speakers.
This produces a certain sky sound, but not as good as high-quality recessed in-ceiling speakers (e.g. WEILIX FX6, KEF R and Q Series, JBL's Studio Series).
2. Choose passive speakers and multi-channel amplifiers, why do passive speakers need to add power amplifiers?
To put it simply, the amplifier can amplify the sound of the sound source, while the amplifier that supports Dolby sound supports decoding the Dolby sound source, and then assigns the sound of each channel to the corresponding speaker, so as to produce excellent surround sound effect;
The higher-end multi-channel amplifiers come with Dirac Live technologyThis is an advanced impulse response and phase correction technology that can solve some key room acoustic problems that are difficult to effectively solve with other solutions, and there are many improvements in sound imaging, sound clarity and bass tightness, which can achieve almost excellent room sound uniformity!
At present, thousands of commercial theaters around the world use DiRAC technology, and high-quality home theaters are not much worse than commercial theaters in terms of audio-visual enjoyment.
