Looking back on the past, there have been some touching phenomena in the Elephant League. Except for the occasional appearance of the Siberian Tiger Zhao Guorong, the vast majority of the older generation of chess players choose to give up the opportunity to play to the younger players. For example, after the Guangdong team withdrew from Xu Yinchuan and Lu Qin, junior players such as Huang Guangying, Mo Zijian and Li Yu were given the opportunity to show their strength. Although their current record is not ideal, playing in the Elephant League will at least improve their chess skills and tournament experience.
A year or two ago, Yu Youhua, Liu Dahua, Xu Yinchuan, Zhao Guorong and Lu Qin and other old chess kings did not hesitate to fight for the honor of the team. However, from the beginning of this Xiangjia League, Lu Qin and Xu Yinchuan chose to withdraw completely, which made the majority of chess fans feel regretful. Their exit meant that the Guangdong team could be at risk of relegation, but they had to make that choice in order to train the newcomers. Yu Youhua and Liu Dahua, two belligerent chess players, also bid farewell to the competition of the Elephant League League, which is really embarrassing.
Time does not forgive people, and chess players get old, this is the law of nature. Every chess player has a day when he or she retires from the tournament. Because Lu Qin, Liu Dahua and others chose to say goodbye to the arena in the same time period, it caused such a deep emotion. Maybe in another year or two, there will be only young players in the Elephant League. Without the participation of the old chess kings, the competition in the Elephant League will inevitably lose a lot of color. Thankfully, the veteran champions are still actively participating in some national championships, and I believe that their fighting spirit on the field will surely inspire the young players to keep moving forward.
