It is very important to diagnose the pregnancy of the mare after breeding, so that the pregnancy status of the mare can be known in advance to avoid the loss of empty pregnancy. Equine ultrasound is the most common method for diagnosing mare pregnancy, with early examination time, high accuracy, non-injuriousness and long service life. The size of the mare is relatively large and the uterus is relatively deep, so the horse is carried out in the rectum with B-ultrasound to check the mare's pregnancy.
First of all, the mare should be Baoding, and then the feces in the rectum should be removed, and if possible, the horse's tail can be tied up to prepare the mare for B-ultrasound examination.
Then put on long-arm gloves, hold the rectal probe in your hand and lubricate it and insert it into the rectum, and the probe should be close to the lower rectal wall with the head face down, and move it above the uterus.
In the process of escape, we will first see the bladder, which is a hypoechoic region in the B-ultrasound image, showing as a long and narrow black hole. The probe is further forward, and a cross-section of the uterus can be seen.
Horse B ultrasound can detect whether pregnant at the earliest about 10 days after ovulation, at this time it is still in the state of vesicles, the volume is very small, and it is easy to misjudge due to lack of experience. We recommend examining the mare between 12 and 15 days after ovulation, when the embryonic vesicles are larger (12-16 mm in diameter) and easier to find, with an accuracy of up to 99%.
