On February 29, Bolloré Group and CMA CGM Group jointly announced that 100% of the shares of Bolloré Logistics have been successfully transferred to CMA CGM Group, with a transaction value of up to 48500 million euros. According to official statements from both sides, Sweden's foreign investment permit remains the final hurdle in the deal.
As a leader in logistics in France and a global presence, Bolloré Logistics has shown impressive results in 2022 with revenues of €7.1 billion, 710,000 TEU of ocean freight and 390,000 tonnes of air cargo and 900,000 square meters of storage capacity.
In recent years, CMA CGM Group has been expanding its logistics business vertically through acquisitions. Following the acquisition of CEVA Logistics in 2019, the CLS business of Ingram Micro in 2022, the investment in Colis Privé, a leading French logistics company, and the acquisition of GEFCO, a European company specializing in automotive logistics, Bolloré Logistics has now been successfully acquired.
The acquisition will place the CMA CGM Group among the top five logistics companies in the world, the largest acquisition of the CMA CGM Group since its founding in 1978, and an important strategic milestone in the field of logistics.
CMA CGM sees the acquisition as an important "game-changer" step. Under Rudolf Saad's leadership, CMA CGM Group is expanding rapidly through a combination of acquisitions and "organic growth", with shipping and logistics as its wings.
In the UK, CEVA Logistics is also poised to launch a full-scale counterattack against the acquisition of Wincanton, indicating that the expansion of CMA CGM Group will continue.
