Recently, the Chongqing delegation held an open group meeting at the second session of the 14th National People's Congress, in which Liu Xiya, the representative of the group, put forward suggestions on the problems existing in the open recruitment of teachers in the compulsory education stage. She pointed out that there are problems in the current recruitment of teachers, such as too narrow professional requirements and limited interdisciplinary examination preparation, and called for the optimization of the teacher recruitment system to promote the diversified development of educational talents.
The professional requirements in teacher recruitment are often too narrow, focusing only on the expertise of a specific subject, ignoring the interdisciplinary comprehensive literacy required by teachers. This overemphasis on professional correspondence limits the diversity and flexibility of the teaching workforce, resulting in the exclusion of some potential educators from entering the field of education.
Deputy Liu Xiya suggested that the open recruitment of teachers should determine the major according to the knowledge reserve required by the subject, rather than overemphasizing that the subject and the major must correspond. This means that teacher recruitment should pay more attention to the comprehensive quality and educational ability of candidates, rather than the narrow perspective of professional background.
Currently, interdisciplinary teachers are often constrained and are not fairly treated in terms of recruitment and staffing.
