Yu Hua's "Alive" was written on September 3, 1992, and many of the prefaces in the book were written on July 27, 1993, October 17, 1996, January 17, 2002, February 26, 2002, and May 15, 2007.
In September 1992, when Yu Hua finished writing "Alive", I was alive in Tiemen No. 1 Middle School. Ten years ago, after graduating from junior high school, I was unable to continue my studies due to my poor family and physical disability, so I returned to my hometown to work as a farmer. For 6 years at home, I worked hard, studied hard, danced and wrote, and became famous and married. Six years later, in the spring of 1988, he returned to his alma mater and became a substitute teacher. Three and a half years later, because he went to Jin for treatment, he was in debt, and he had no choice but to leave his hometown and go away to the iron gate. The salary here is double that of the hometown.
In July 1993, I was still alive at Tiemen No. 1 Middle School. As the head of the Chinese teaching and research team, I can't remember whether I taught three classes of Chinese classes in two grades or two classes in two grades.
