A thousand years ago, King Chu Huai was immersed in a spring dream, in which a fairy threw himself into his arms. This mysterious and lingering dream, like a faint memory, lingered in the heart of King Chu Huai. The fairy told him that she was the daughter of Wushan, and that she lived in the sun of Wushan, and that she was transformed into clouds and rain every day, and that she was happy with King Chu Huai every day. This fantastic and beautiful dream has become the "clouds and rain of Wushan" praised by later generations.
With the passage of time, a thousand years later, the poet Yuan Zhi wrote in a poem mourning his wife: "Once the sea was difficult to turn into water, except for Wushan, it is not a cloud." This poem flows with longing for his deceased wife. Yuan Zhen, a descendant of the Emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty, has declined. He zigzags forward on the road of studying, and finally passed the "Ming Jing" subject with excellent results, but he was born in the Ming Jing and could not be an official, and he still had to pass the level of the Ministry of Officials.
In the fifteenth year of Zhenyuan, Yuan Zhi traveled to Puzhou Pufu Temple, but accidentally helped the Cui family get out of danger and met Shuangwen, the young lady of the Cui family. Shuangwen is dignified and chaste, and Yuan Zhen is deeply moved. After some twists and turns of confession, the two began to secretly date, came in the middle of the night with a pillow, and left with the maidservant in the morning. However, Shuangwen has deep and introverted feelings, and Yuan Zhen always can't figure out her thoughts.
As time passed, Mototsu's exam opportunity arrived, and he had to leave Shuangwen for a farther place for the sake of the family's revival. Shuangwen knew that this farewell was extraordinary, and said goodbye with a calm attitude, playing "Neon Clothes and Feather Song" to express his inner sorrow. Yuan Zhen's official career is getting higher and higher, but Shuangwen is sick and dies, leaving an endless period of longing.
In Luoyang, Yuan Zhi encountered a new challenge, Prime Minister Wei Xiaqing pushed marriage, and Yuan Zhi finally chose a political marriage. Wei Xiaqing's daughter Wei Cong is virtuous and abides by marriage, and the two live a simple and happy life. However, when Yuan Zhen gradually became wealthy, Wei Cong fell seriously ill and eventually passed away. Yuan Zhen felt deeply guilty, used his wealth to help the subordinates that Shuangwen had served, and wrote "Once the sea was difficult to water, except Wushan is not a cloud" to express his thoughts about his deceased wife.
Yuan Zhen's love life did not stop, and he met Xue Tao, a musician, in Shudi. Xue Tao is outstanding, and he was once demoted to Shu for offending the prime minister. The two fell in love, but Yuan Zhen's career required him to leave. Xue Tao expressed his thoughts about Yuan Zhi with exquisite and tactful love poems and special Xue Tao notes, but failed to redeem the parting.
Yuan Zhen's emotional experience vividly shows the twists and turns of love and the impermanence of life. He began to dream of Wushan and finally abandoned Xue Tao's tears. And "once the sea was difficult to water, except for Wushan is not a cloud" has become the best annotation of his emotional life. This story of a thousand years ago is like a picture of time, shining brilliantly in the long river of history.
