Tips and experience in the installation of electric heat tracing

1. Improper use of electric heat tracing insulation system can easily lead to system failure or shorten the service life of the heat tracing system. The same is true when installing an electric heat tracing system. Unreasonable and non-compliant construction operations can easily lead to problems in the entire electric heating system and affect its normal use.

2. Before the heat trace is laid, the insulation resistance of each heat trace should be tested.

3. Before installing each electric heat tracing system, check whether the model of the corresponding heat trace and its accessories is consistent with the design model and test.

4. Check whether the materials to be installed, such as the tail end and the power junction box, are intact and undamaged.

5. Before the installation of the heat tracing, the pipeline system is installed, and the relevant flaw detection, pressure test and concealed acceptance work are completed. The coating of the piping system must be practical, and the gas should evaporate for more than the specified time.

6. Pay special attention to the unevenness and sharp corners that are easy to damage the heat tracing, and deal with them in time.

7. When installing the self-limiting temperature tracing, a stable cable frame should be used to support the cable tray of the heating and lay the heat tracing; The heat trace must not be bent and dragged on sharp edges and corners; Be sure to have a protective cap at the end of the heat trace to prevent water from entering the end during installation.

8. Anti-corrosion, explosion-proof and other special heat tracing should be inspected accordingly.

9. Protect the self-limiting heating elements around the two conductors from damage, and pay attention to the treatment method.

10. The installation method is incorrect, including the incorrect installation of the components, the electric heat trace is easy to be damaged during installation, or the wires of the two heat traces are connected together and it is easy to short circuit.

11. Do not use PVC or conventional tape to fix the self-limiting electric heat tracing. The use of electric heating accessories will have corresponding supporting product instructions, and the operation instructions should be strictly followed.
