This year, the first batch of 497 suspects who committed cross-border telecommunications network fraud in Myanmar were handed over to China.
The reporter learned from the Ministry of Public Security on the 1st that since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Public Security has continued to strengthen international police law enforcement cooperation with Myanmar's law enforcement agencies, and sent a working group to cooperate with Myanmar to carry out joint operations, and successfully arrested 497 suspects of telecommunications network fraud in the Tachili area of Myanmar. On February 21, Myanmar** handed over all the above-mentioned criminal suspects to our side. This is another major achievement of China-Myanmar cooperation in police law enforcement.
In view of the current grim situation of telecommunications network fraud in northern Myanmar, since 2023, the Ministry of Public Security and Myanmar law enforcement departments have continuously strengthened international police cooperation, deployed and commanded Yunnan public security organs and relevant local law enforcement departments in Myanmar to continue to deepen border police law enforcement cooperation, continue to report fraud dens and personnel clues, and with the strong support of our embassy in Myanmar, jointly Myanmar** has carried out a series of crackdown operations and achieved fruitful results. As of now, there have been 460,000 suspects involved in China's telecommunications network fraud have been handed over to our side, and a large number of fraud dens have been successfully eradicated.
During the Spring Festival this year, on the basis of grasping the facts and evidence of relevant crimes, the Ministry of Public Security sent a working group to cooperate with Myanmar** to successfully arrest 497 suspects of telecommunications network fraud (including 46 fugitives) in the Tachili area, and seized a large number of criminal tools, further expanding the results of the crackdown. At present, the Ministry of Public Security has deployed public security organs in Hubei, Sichuan, and other places to escort criminal suspects back from Yunnan in an orderly manner, and make every effort to carry out the investigation and handling of cases.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Public Security said that this is the first batch of telecommunications network fraud suspects handed over to me by Myanmar this year, and the public security organs will continue to deepen police and law enforcement cooperation with relevant countries and regions, continue to carry out joint crackdown actions, resolutely curb the high incidence of cross-border telecommunication network fraud, and effectively safeguard the safety of people's lives and property.
