Thousands of miles of rivers and mountains are smart, and thousands of acres of green are graceful. Under the moonlight, the "Picture of a Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" slowly unfolds, and a young scholar and a young man dressed in Song Dynasty clothes stand opposite each other across time and space, leading the audience into the Chinese aesthetic world of the dance drama "Only This Green".
On the evening of February 29th, the ** Opera House in Beijing was brightly lit, and the special performance of the dance drama "Only This Green" was held here. The event was jointly organized by China***, Beijing Municipality and China Oriental Performing Arts Group, and nearly 700 diplomats and family members from nearly 100 embassies (institutions) in China, including Cameroon, South Africa, Nepal and Turkey, attended.
Inspired by the Northern Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng's masterpiece A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains, the drama uses a narrative structure that intersects time and space to lead the audience to explore the painter's inner world. The work integrates dance, painting, literature and other elements, and the rotating stage flashes the four seasons of rain and shine, and the actors shuttle between them, showing the vivid scenes of ancient craftsmen weaving silk, ink, and brush. The turquoise lights are reflected, and the beautiful mountains and rivers are slowly painted, conveying the timeless artistic charm of Chinese culture.
It's a beautiful dance drama like poetry. For nearly two hours of performance, my colleagues and I were immersed in it from start to finish. Li Ge, Counsellor of Information and Social Culture at the Indonesian Embassy in China, is particularly fond of the chapter "Into the Painting": the dancers are dressed in simple clothes to reproduce the elegant charm of the Song Dynasty in "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains". "This landscape painting is a combination of majesty and femininity, and so is the dance drama that it transforms. Whether it is the costumes or the dance steps of the actors, they are pleasing to the eye. I hope that "Only This Green" can be performed in Indonesia in the future, and the audience will definitely like it. ”
Since its premiere in 2021, the dance drama "Only This Green" has traveled to 57 cities across the country and performed nearly 480 times, and has been widely praised by the audience. In 2024, "Only This Green" will embark on a global tour, with plans to perform in Singapore, Turkey, Canada, Russia, Japan and other countries.
**Assistant Minister Hua Chunying said in her speech before the performance that Chinese culture is both historical and contemporary; It is both national and global. We appreciate not only the beauty of China's green landscapes, but also the harmony and symbiosis of different civilizations.
In recent years, excellent Chinese dance dramas such as "Confucius", "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", "Mulan" and "Wing Chun" have gone abroad and are welcomed by local audiences. In March, another new dance drama "Poetry Memories of Dongpo" launched by China Oriental Performing Arts Group will also be unveiled in the United States. Jing Xiaoyong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Oriental Performing Arts Group, said that the excellent traditional Chinese culture has accumulated a deep heritage, which provides endless nutrients for stage art, and will continue to strive to create more masterpieces that promote cultural classics in the future. "We look forward to introducing the excellent traditional Chinese culture to foreign audiences through stage arts, so that these works can become a window for foreign audiences to understand China and understand China. ”
