Calrec, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, will be showcasing the lowest height Argo-S IP native audio mixer at NAB 2024.
The new ARGO-S combines the instrument bridge and touch user interface into a single row of displays. Users can instantly switch between the full web UI of Calrec Assist and the full meter of any section. It maintains the ubiquitous spirit of Argo—flexibility, customization, ergonomics, resilience, and multi-user workflows—in a form factor that fits even the tightest of environments and can also be used as a drop-in replacement for smaller consoles.

The new variants are also suitable for applications that require a low profile or better surface line of sight. As with its larger Argo counterparts, each 12-fader-wide section is completely independent in terms of processing power, path control access, power, and connectivity, meaning there's no need to rely on any single section. The Argo platform won NAB's 2023 Product of the Year Award. Calrec's Argo Q and Argo S models represent a whole new approach to audio mixing, and the company says its flexible control concept breaks down the traditional geographical boundaries between processing and control. ARGO is fully modular, with interchangeable hardware panels and a CAREC accessibility user interface at its core. This means that whether the operator is working on a physical hardware panel or a remote graphical user interface, the user interface is both familiar and easy to operate. The modular panel system encourages broadcasters to adapt surface hardware to meet their unique requirements, with two rows of mid-layer interchangeable panels on the larger Argo Q model and one row of mid-layer interchangeable panels on the Argo S model. Also on display at this year's NAB show will be Calrec's IMPULSE1 IP audio processing and routing engine, which is a version of IMpulse's ST2110 that is smaller, more powerful and more cost-effective. The Impulse1 is a compact 1U solution with an optional second core for redundancy and a new 128-input channel DSP package for entry-level**. Calrec's R-type modular, scalable IP mixing system will also be on display at the show. According to the company, the system is connected to Calrec's Cloud Mix Assist and integrates with TV automation systems such as Ross Overdrive, Sony ELC and Grass Valley Ignite.
