In 2023, Baume & Mercier celebrates its 50th anniversary. At this year's Watches & Wonders Geneva Haute Horlogerie exhibition, the Maison will add more models to the collection. But before that, Baume & Mercier unveiled a new and innovative Riviera Baumatic Tideograph (Ref. 10761).
The new watch retains the iconic shape, but is slightly larger at 43 in diameter06 mm, thickness 1234 mm. The case is made of stainless steel, with a sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and see-through case back, and is water-resistant to 100 meters. The twelve-sided bezel is brushed and decorated with black ADLC screws.
Unlike the standard model, this watch features a blue sunburst dial instead of a coloured sapphire crystal dial. The tidal cycle indicator at 6 o'clock is a rarity in mechanical watches. The tides rise and fall twice a day, at intervals of 12 hours and 25 minutes, so the disc is divided into four quadrants and two 12-hour indicators. The function can be adjusted with the help of a pusher at 4 o'clock. The hands and indexes are coated with white Super-Luminova to ensure readability in low-light conditions.
By looking through the case back, it is possible to admire the built-in BM14-1975AC3 automatic movement. It has 21 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a skeleton oscillating weight with a power reserve of up to 120 hours. At the same time, the BM14-1975AC3 calibre is delicately decorated with snail, circular grain and Côtes de Genève.
The Baumatic Tideograph comes with an integrated blue rubber strap with a butterfly clasp. Thanks to the quick-change system, the chain belt can be easily replaced. The watch is limited to 500 pieces and has a price tag of 5,380 euros, equivalent to about 42,000 yuan. (Photo: Xu Chaoyang, Home of Watches).
