Chelsea midfielder Caicedo recently gave an exclusive interview to Malaysia's ** Stadium Astro and talked about many aspects of himself. How do you feel about this season? I know the season isn't over yet, but going into March and it's not long before it ends, how do you feel?
I can see my improvement, I can improve every game and I'm helping the team. It's important for me because if I don't play well I get very frustrated. You know it's normal because it's my first season at Chelsea. yes, that's good because I learn from every day in training or in games, every time I make a mistake, every time I help the team. Now I'm really happy because I'm doing really well at the moment.
You've said before that you've had the help of the likes of Alexis Sanchez in the process of integrating into the team
yes, it's a little bit easier because of the language, you can share a lot of things when you're with them, it's good to have them in the team, they've helped me a lot, and the rest of the team has too. They have positive energy, which is good.
It's sometimes unfair to label a player for his value, because it's not up to you, but you have to bear the pressure
I was under a lot of pressure at the beginning because you know I'm a very expensive player, one of the most expensive players in the Premier League. It's a pressure for me because every time I have this thought in my head and I think I need to show what I'm capable of and prove why the club is spending so much money on me. After that, I started talking to people and they helped me understand: if they spend that much money for me, it's because I'm worth it.
I started playing all the time, focusing on the game, and I knew I had to give it my all on the pitch, but you can't play well every game. It was really difficult for me at the beginning, but now I'm good, I'm helping the team, I'm just thinking about the game, not what people think about me, and now I'm happier.
Your relationship with Enzo?
We are partners. Because of the language, we help each other. It's normal for us to be frustrated when we lose and happy when we win. When we won, we knew everybody helped the team. We are in midfield and we have to help the team because the more important the game, the more important it is for the midfield to fight. We were very happy.
You've partnered with another Argentine midfielder, Allister McAllister
It wasn't the same system at Brighton before and now it's not the same system, there are some differences. Of course they are very good players and I enjoyed playing with McAllister and now I enjoy playing with Enzo. They all have a top-level mentality, they helped me a lot at McAllister at Brighton and now Enzo has helped me a lot as well, he came before me, so I spoke to him before I joined Chelsea and he told me a little bit about the club and he told me what the club was all about, so that's one of the reasons why I came to Chelsea.
