On the occasion of his death, he uttered the following words: immortality is not a happy thing, and there is no need to worry about dying after sunset. Because, there is no end to life, and there is no trace left. I entrust all my knowledge, believers, etc. to Monk Gong, and I have no worries in my heart. ”

On November 23, 587, he died at Qixia Temple at the age of 70.
