The economic development of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces has always attracted much attention, but how rich it is a topic worth going deeper.
Some people think that the Suzhou-Xichang region may surpass Hangzhou-Shaoyong in some aspects, but in terms of overall wealth, Zhejiang Province is undoubtedly a better region. However, GDP does not fully represent the affluence of ordinary people, and this is an issue that requires us to think deeply.
First of all, the large population of the northern region of Jiangsu makes the economic data in the region somewhat unsatisfactory and gives a sense of unreality.
Although the central region of Zhejiang is slightly backward economically, regions such as Jinhua, Lishui and Quzhou have relatively wealthy county-level cities, and the development momentum of these places is gradually improving.
Secondly, cities north of the Yangtze River, such as Nantong, Yangzhou, Taizhou, etc., are undoubtedly in a disadvantageous position compared with Jiaxing, Huzhou, and Zhoushan. However, the GDP figures for these regions give a sense of unreality and make it difficult to understand the basis for their calculations.
In addition, the fact that a city like Wenzhou, despite the fact that the world is known for the business success of its people, has a relatively low GDP per capita is indeed puzzling.
To sum up, there are many complex realities and challenges behind the economic competition between Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. GDP data may be a measure of economic development, but it is by no means the only criterion.
