InA few years after Citroen introduced Picasso to achieve domestic production, Ford also brought a European-style MPV to the Chinese people, that is, Changan Ford's S-MAX launched in 2007.

Changan Ford's domestically produced S-MAX is priced at about 19-250,000 yuan, and all models come standard with 2The 3-litre self-aspirated petrol engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing 160 PS at 6,800 rpm and 205Nm at 4,000 rpm. However, the poor power performance and comprehensive fuel consumption of more than 10 liters per 100 kilometers are two obvious shortcomings in user feedback.
The S-MAX is a 7-seater MPV model launched by Ford Europe in 2006, codenamed CD340, with a name composed of "sporty" and "maximum", developed based on the EUCD platform, and is considered to be the brother model of the Galaxy series, and also belongs to the same platform model as the Ford Mondeo CD345.
Therefore, the long version of the S-MAX is long in the chassis handling.
And its size will be smaller than the Galaxy (will be larger than the Citroen C4 Picasso), for a family of 4-5 people, it is enough, the rear independent seats can be flipped flat, and there are a lot of small storage compartments in the car.
The length of the S-Max is 476 meters, wheelbase 2At 85 meters, both of the 2007 model year are 7-seaters, and the 2008 model year will add a 5-seat version.
Initially, Changan Ford did not assign a Chinese name to S-Max, and it was not until January 2009 that Ford gave it a Chinese name called "Max" in the "name collection" activity.
Unfortunately, after changing the Chinese name, it did not bring it better sales performance, just like the embarrassing scene of Citroen Picasso in China, users with business needs will not consider such models, and most users with household needs choose to buy B-class sedans or Honda Odysseys with larger size and better power.
Finally, around 2011, it began to enter order-based production, and finally stopped production around 2014. Overseas, the company will continue to launch the second-generation model (CD4 platform) and will continue to produce it until the end of this spring.
There are all kinds of shortcomings, but I think it's all about price. The red S-Max was also one of my dream cars back then.

According to the 2017 airbag recall report, between July 7, 2006 and May 15, 2014, Changan Ford produced a total of 25,355 S-MAX units, which is estimated to be more than the number of Citroen Sara Picasso.
Interestingly, in 2017, after the discontinuation of the Changan Ford S-MAX, Chongqing Lifan Automobile launched a family MPV called "Xuanlang". This model has a great similarity with the S-MAX in terms of design, and soon after its birth, Lifan was also in charge.
