William Hill: Chelsea should sign Vlahovic, who and Nkunku are expected to form a super-centre-forward partnership.
Chelsea appear to be picking up the pace to find another new striker for the 2023-24 season and beyond. With Felix returning to parent club Atletico Madrid and Kai Havertz linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge, the need for a new attacker is now even more apparent.
How is Vlahovic doing at Juventus? Chelsea scored just 38 goals in 38 Premier League games last season and are now in dire need of players who can help them improve.
However, some of them are either wanted by countless other clubs or are considered unrealistic value of the number one target, Osimhen. This could be a very promising development for Chelsea, with Italy claiming the Blues have come up with a copy for Vlahovic, which is being studied at the Juventus hierarchy.
The Italian said they would need at least €80 million (£69 million) to get Vlahovic. Vlahovic joined from Fiorentina for €70 million (£60 million) not so long ago, with several years left on his contract.
If so, where does he fit at Chelsea? Amid all this, it must be remembered that Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign talented striker Nkunku, which is expected to be officially announced next week.
Considering how poor Chelsea's results were in the final danger third last season, there would be no problem with another signing. Serbia international Vlahovic was described as a 'beast' by football journalist Al-Falahi last season and the Blues could sign Nkunku as an ideal partner.
To the excitement of Chelsea fans, FBREF's player comparison tool compares Vlahovic's stats with those of Manchester City star Erling Haaland, who is undoubtedly the number one striker in world football today. Over the past year, Vlahovic has returned 043, in the top 18% of positional players in Europe's top leagues.
This probably won't put him on a par with the mighty Erling Haaland (0.).80 no penalties) but among the players in the blue rook he surpassed Kai Havertz (0.).38), Sterling (029) and Mudryk (025), last season only Felix (0.47) is better than Vlahovic in this regard, but the Portuguese won't be staying at Stamford Bridge next season.
Vlahovic is also a keen shooter, having 3. per 90 minutes in Serie A last season04 shots on goal. In contrast, among the players still available at Chelsea, it is actually Fofana with 3A score of 75 is the highest.
Of course, a shot doesn't necessarily equal a goal, but the Serb scored 0. per 90 minutes last season47 goals, none of the Chelsea players have scored more than 04 goals, of which Felix with 038 goals are at the top of the table again.
Last season didn't really reflect Vlahovic's quality, and his goals per 90 minutes dropped dramatically. On the face of it, this could mean that Vlahovic is on the decline, but he is still only 23 years old, and the team's style of play and his own injuries have contributed to his poor performance. More likely, the player is one who can thrive in a different system and have higher quality players by his side – Chelsea certainly have no shortage of talented midfielders to back it up.
If Nkunku, who scored dozens of goals last season, is Chelsea's signature signing for the summer, Vlahovic could well be a bet worth taking if Pochettino is to succeed at Stamford Bridge. In fact, the combination of two such formidable attackers would be a huge feast for the Argentine.
