The National Key Laboratory Alliance in the field of transportation was established

On March 5, the National Key Laboratory Alliance in the Field of Transportation (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance) was established in Beijing, bringing together a total of 15 national key laboratories in the fields of railways, highways, waterways, civil aviation, and transportation equipment. The National Key Laboratory of Waterway Traffic Control, which Wuhan University of Technology participated in the construction, hosted the inaugural meeting of the alliance. He Manchao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhu Yingfu, Chen Zhijie, Zhang Jun, Wu Guanghui, Zheng Jianlong, Lu Chunfang, Yan Xinping, Wang Yunpeng, Lin Ming, He Chuan and other 12 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the meeting.

Under the overall guidance of the Ministry of Transport, the alliance will form a joint force of national key laboratory resources in the field of transportation based on the implementation of major national strategies and the development needs of the modern comprehensive transportation system, realize resource sharing, complementary advantages, collaborative innovation, and jointly promote the innovation of transportation science and technology.

Wang Gang, member of the party group and vice minister of the Ministry of Transport, said at the inaugural meeting that the establishment of the alliance is an innovative move to strengthen the national strategic scientific and technological strength in the field of transportation. At a new starting point, the alliance needs to accurately grasp the new situation and new tasks faced by accelerating the construction of a transportation power, give full play to the role of innovation consortium, promote interdisdisciplinary, interdisciplinary and cross-field collaboration to tackle key problems, establish a mechanism for facility sharing, data resource sharing, and benefit sharing, and play the role of a high-end think tank in the development needs of major planning, major projects and key industrial chains in the industry, attract more national key laboratories to empower the high-quality development of transportation, and achieve more fruitful results in leading the scientific and technological progress of the industry.

Wang Song, deputy director of the Department of Major Tasks and Laboratories of the Ministry of Science and Technology, expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the alliance and the convening of the conference, and believed that the establishment of the laboratory alliance is a useful exploration and substantial progress in the innovation of the laboratory mechanism and system.

At the inaugural meeting, the heads of five national key laboratories, including "Air Traffic Management System", "Tunnel Engineering Disaster Prevention and Control and Intelligent Construction and Maintenance", "Intelligent Transportation Vehicles and Transportation", "Rail Transit Delivery System", and "Safety, Longevity and Health Operation and Maintenance of Long Bridges", exchanged experiences and put forward suggestions for the construction of the alliance.

Wang Gang issued letters of appointment to the chairman, vice president, secretary general and director and deputy director of the steering committee of the alliance. Academician Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Institute of Technology, served as the first chairman of the alliance, Wang Yunpeng, president of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, served as the vice chairman of the alliance, and Academician Yan Xinping, director of the National Key Laboratory of Waterway Traffic Control of Wuhan University of Technology, served as the vice chairman of the alliance and concurrently served as the first secretary-general. The secretariat of the alliance will rely on the National Key Laboratory of Waterway Traffic Control to carry out its work. Lu Chunfang, Zhu Yingfu and other 13 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences were hired to form the steering committee of the alliance.

Participating in the construction of the alliance will help the university play an important role in the construction of a national transportation power and contribute to the development of the school and transportation disciplines.
