Have you ever seen a "love apple" that has not rotted for 20 years? Recently, in the Gusan residential area of Hongmei Street, Xuhui District, a community care activity full of warmth was in full swing.

The staff and social work team of the neighborhood committee of the residential area joined hands with the members of the "14 o'clock hand-knitting class" to go deep into all corners of the community and conduct a special visit to the elderly living alone, the disabled and other people. They personally delivered carefully woven "love apples" to the hands of the elderly, and each "apple" implied a deep blessing - peace and security.

In addition to material care, they also brought a warm reminder: "Everyone pay attention to keeping warm, don't be reluctant to turn on the air conditioner." "Pay attention to the use of electricity, water, and coal, and if you need anything, you can call the neighborhood committee**, and we will help you as soon as possible." The sending of "apples" and intimate greetings drove away the chill and shortened the distance between each other.

As one of the beneficiaries, Cao Guifeng was deeply moved: "Thank you so much, the Gusan Neighborhood Committee has always been so caring!" From the beginning of winter to the beginning of spring, I can receive caring gifts from the neighborhood committee. You see, this is a slipper knee pad from previous years, and I still use it! ”

These hand-woven "apples" may seem tiny, but they are full of affection, they are knitted by more than ten volunteers of the 14 o'clock hand-knitting class, which embodies the spirit of selfless dedication and mutual help between neighbors. Through these "apples" that carry deep love, the elderly really feel the warmth from the community family.

It is reported that the 14 o'clock hand-knitting class is a team composed of women volunteers, who use their expertise to inherit and carry forward the traditional hand-knitting skills and transform them into caring actions. Since 2018, every winter, we have knitted a variety of love products for the elderly living alone and elderly in the community, from gloves and hats to knee pads and slippers, all of which reflect the care and enthusiasm of the community.
