On March 6, the Chao News reporter learned from China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai Bureau Group) that as of March 5, the 40-day railway Spring Festival transportation ended successfully, and the Yangtze River Delta Railway sent more than 92 million passengers, with an average daily of more than 2.3 million passengers, more than 17.1 million more passengers than the Spring Festival in 2019, an increase of more than 22%.

The passenger flow in the 40 days of the Spring Festival increased by more than two percent compared with the same period in 2019

The data shows that 15 days before the holiday, the passenger flow in Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou is concentrated; Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Hong Kong, Xulan, Shanghai-Kunming, Zhengfu high-speed railway, Ningrong, Hangzhou-Shenzhen railway and other direct trunk lines, as well as Nanjing-Hangzhou, Hehang-Hangzhou high-speed railway, Shanghai-Nanjing intercity and other high-speed rail lines in the tube have welcomed the largest passenger flow in the past six years.

In the 40 days of the Spring Festival, the Yangtze River Delta Railway has 32 days to send more than 2 million passengers in a single day.

To this end, railway stations in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Xuzhou, Hefei, Wenzhou, Ningbo and other places have launched large passenger flow response plans in a timely manner to ensure passenger travel.

This year's Spring Festival, due to the recovery of the tourism market, the extension of the Spring Festival holiday, the drainage of new lines, the enhancement of people's willingness to travel and many other favorable factors, the number of passengers in the Spring Festival of Shanghai Bureau Group increased by more than two percent compared with the same period in 2019, which is better than the national railway average.

The passenger flow of rigid needs such as returning to school after the holiday increased year-on-year

According to the data provided by the Shanghai Bureau Group, from January 26 to February 9, 15 days before the holiday, the group company sent more than 37.7 million passengers, with an average daily of more than 2.5 million passengers, an increase of nearly 28% over the same period in 2019.

From February 10 to March 5, 25 days after the holiday, the group company sent more than 54.3 million passengers, with an average of more than 2.17 million passengers per day, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period in 2019.

Compared with the pre-holiday period of a large number of colleges and universities, the flow of students returning to their hometowns was released in advance, and the post-holiday student flow also increased year-on-year, and the flow of people between regions was frequent.

From February 23rd to 26th, the Yangtze River Delta Railway ushered in more than 1.1 million students returning to school. Since the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, the station and train job fairs held by the Yangtze River Delta Railway and a number of enterprises have also attracted nearly 100,000 passengers to stop and nearly 10,000 people have signed contracts on the spot.

One picture per day, discounted fares, and a better travel experience for passengers

Fully considering the increase in passenger flow and the impact of rain, snow and freezing disasters, the railway department has accurately implemented the "one map per day" transportation capacity allocation in accordance with the overall idea of "appropriate arrangement, emergency preparedness, accurate matching, and echelon delivery", and the transportation capacity adjustment has changed from periodic adjustment to on-demand adjustment.

At the same time, we will continue to pay attention to the pre-sale of passenger tickets and the purchase of waitlists, determine the timing of the launch of scheduled passenger trains and the start of temporary passenger trains as needed, and release capacity in echelons to ensure the travel needs of passengers.

According to statistics, during the Spring Festival transportation period, a total of 9,730 passenger trains were added, 4,303 passenger cars were added, and 7,898 EMU trains were reconnected.

In this year's Spring Festival, the Yangtze River Delta Railway Department arranged 32 general-speed hard seats to be converted into hard sleeper cars to go into operation, increase the supply of hard sleeper seats for general-speed trains, and improve the comfort of passengers on medium- and long-distance general-speed trains.

It is understood that the scope of ticket discounts for this year's Spring Festival transportation has been further expanded, covering some of the planned and additional general speed and EMU trains, as well as reverse empty trains; The maximum discount range for general speed train tickets is as low as 2 discounts, and the maximum discount range for EMU train fares is as low as 3 discounts; More than 50 reverse return trains have been discounted, a significant increase compared to the 2023 Spring Festival.

In addition, during this year's Spring Festival, the Yangtze River Delta Railway Department further promoted the "One Bowl of Good Rice" and "One Good Sleep" passenger service project, and 15 new affordable meals were launched on EMU trains to further enrich passengers' dining choices.
